Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and China won six male titles in the Wuhan World Military Games

Following the female title bouts, the male finals were held in the boxing tournament of the World Military Games in the city of Wuhan, China on Day7. All of the five female gold medals remained in the Asian continent and the male boxers claimed further six titles in the Games. Kazakhstan, China and Uzbekistan each won two gold medals in the men’s part of the World Military Games.

Host China, DPR Korea, India, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Mongolia, Thailand and Uzbekistan were the best Asian nations in the boxing tournament of the World Military Games in Wuhan. All of them have got medallists and winners in the World Military Games in Wuhan which will be also the venue of the 2020 Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualification Event.

Kazakhstan’s Temirtas Zhussupov won the first Asian final at the men’s light flyweight (49kg)
Kazakhstan sent a strong team to the World Military Games to Wuhan and their top boxers achieved several medals in this multisport event. WSB Team Champion and Amman 2013 ASBC Asian Champion Temirtas Zhussupov eliminated Colombia’s Cristian Camilo Torres and DPR Korea’s Kim Jang Ryong during his road to the finals of the light flyweight (49kg). Zhussupov had to meet for the title with another Asian boxer, India’s ASBC Asian Boxing Championships silver medallist Deepak on Day7. The 31-year-old Kazakh boxer was too experienced for the Indian which was a honest fight between the two stars.

China’s Zhang Guo defeated his North Korean rival in the second Asian final of the World Military Games
The flyweight (52kg) delivered clear Asian dominancy in the World Military Games as all of the four medallists are from our continent. Mongolia’s promising Enkhmandakh Kharkhuu delivered the main sensation of the weight class in Wuhan where he defeated India’s AIBA World Boxing Championships silver medallist Amit Panghal but finally he achieved only bronze medal. The gold medal of the division was earned by China’s Zhang Guo who performed defeated South Korea’s Kang Dong Heon in the semi-final and repeated that strong performance in the final against DPR Korea’s Ri Sung Jin.

Kazakhstan’s Aslanbek Shymbergenov used his experiences to win the male welterweight (69kg)
Kazakhstan’s Temirtas Zhussupov claimed their first gold in Wuhan, while the second was captured by Incheon 2018 Asian Games silver medallist Aslanbek Shymbergenov. The 26-year-old WSB Team Champion had a tough victory over Thailand’s three-time Olympian Saylom Ardee in the semi-finals and advanced to the finals of the World Military Games. The Kazakh welterweight (69kg) boxer met for the gold with Uzbekistan’s ASBC Asian Youth Champion Bilolbek Mirzarakhimov who is a six-year younger rival. Shymbergenov used his longer reach well and attacked with perfect timing in their respective final securing Kazakhstan’s second gold in the Games.

Kozimbek Mardonov and Madiyar Saidrakhimov are Uzbekistan’s gold medallists
Uzbekistan’s Shunkor Abdurasulov and Bilolbek Mirzarakhimov claimed silver medals in the World Military Games but following their losses in the last day of boxing, two of their young hopes succeeded in Wuhan. Kozimbek Mardonov was bronze medallist in the 2014 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships but he is such a strong hope already in the elites and won the title of the light heavyweight (81kg) in Wuhan after beating Egypt’s All Africa Games winner Abdelrahman Salah El-Oraby. Uzbekistan’s second title was taken by another 22-year-old hope Madiyar Saidrakhimov who stopped Kazakhstan’s Abzal Kuttybekov in the final of the heavyweight (91kg).
