Strong Uzbek squad travels to the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships

Uzbekistan is one of the key nation of the Asian continent and their current youth team are also enough strong to get gold medals in the upcoming ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan. Their youth head coach Mr. Hamid Tangribergenov and their former star boxer Mr. Bekzod Khidirov selected a 10-strong squad to the championships.
Uzbekistan claimed one gold medal at the 2013 edition in Subic Bay, Philippines where Oybek Sharipov was able to win the title at the Heavyweight class (91 kg). Their boxers worked better in Bangkok in 2014 where their new star Rio 2016 Olympian Bektemir Melikuziev and Kozimbek Mardonov became their gold medallists.
Uzbekistan’s top talent Otabek Kholmatov is one of the main gold medal contender of the Light Flyweight class (49 kg) in Pavlodar who claimed gold at the Ahmet Comert Youth Tournament last October and defeated all of his rivals also in the Pavlyukov Youth Memorial Tournament in Anapa, Russia on March.
Agalarov Youth Memorial Tournament bronze medallist Rakhmatulla Kuziev and ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships silver medallist Oybek Jurayev are their strong Flyweight class (52 kg) boxers but their head coach can send only one of them to the upcoming Pavlodar event.
Tashkent region’s Shunkor Abdurasulov joined to the national squad in 2013 and won the gold medal at the Danas Pozniakas Youth Memorial Tournament in Vilnius, Lithuania where he defeated his main rival Kazakhstan’s Serik Temirzhanov as well. The Bantamweight class (56 kg) boxer probably have to meet with the Kazakh athlete once again in Pavlodar and their possible re-match could be one of the highlight of the championships.
Bilolbek Mirzarakhimov claimed gold medal at the 2015 AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships in St. Petersburg, Russia and also in the 2015 ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in Tashkent. Following his silver medal at the Pavlyukov Youth Memorial Tournament the 17-year-old boxer is the favourite of the Lightweight class (60 kg) in Pavlodar.
Youth National Cup winner Abu Nuranov trains in Karakalpakstan which is a special region of Uzbekistan but has got also strong boxers. Andizhan’s Ulugbek Sobirov won the gold medal at the Abbas Agalarov Youth Memorial Tournament in Baku last December where he defeated such a world class boxers as Azerbaijan’s Parviz Guliyev and Kazakhstan’s Heydar Aliyev Junior Cup winner Sadreddin Akhmedov therefore his expectations are high in the Welterweight class (69 kg).
AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Yakhyokhon Saidkhonov competed in the junior events last year and joined to the youth age group only a few months ago. He competed in the Welterweight class (69 kg) but decided to move up one category therefore his appearance in the Middleweight class (75 kg) in Pavlodar will be his first steps in the new division. Agalarov Youth Memorial Tournament bronze medallist Jamshidjon Abdullaev of Ferghana defeated strong Sanjar Tursunov in the final of the Uzbekistan Youth National Cup which was a big sensation in the selection event.
Agalarov Youth Memorial Tournament and Zhetysu Youth Cup winner Shokhruz Rakhimov defeated his main local rival ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Champion Profsor Rorimsha in the national selection event and has got great chance to get gold at the Heavyweight class (91 kg). Tashkent region’s Super Heavyweight class (+91 kg) hope Abdulla Khudorganov claimed the gold medal at the Danas Pozniakas Youth Tournament in Vilnius which was his last preparation event before Pavlodar.
