Kazakhstan is the favourite to win the medal rankings in the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships

Kazakhstan will be competing with maximum number of ten boxers in the upcoming ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan where the expectations of the host country is high. Kazakhstan is focusing to keep the top of the team rankings in Pavlodar where their main rivals will be the Uzbeks.
In the last editions of the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships Kazakhstan dominated the competition, the Central Asian country won the team rankings in Tehran, in Subic Bay and also in Bangkok two years ago. Tehran saw four Kazakh gold medals in the 2010 ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships and among them Nurbol Kalzhanov and Meirim Nursultanov are now stars of the Astana Arlans Kazakhstan WSB franchise.
Kazakhstan repeated that performance three years later and claimed four gold medals in Subic Bay, Philippines where Tursynbai Kulakhmet was their best. Bangkok was a real success for the Kazakh boxers were six of their athletes reached the top of the podium including their new Rio 2016 Olympian currently 19-year-old Abylaykhan Zhussupov.
Mr. Shukhrat Danbay the President of the Pavlodar Regional Boxing Federation and a former national boxer Mr. Azamat Makazhanov the Executive Director of the Pavlodar Regional Boxing Federation informed all participants and stakeholders the city is ready to host the event in a press conference.
AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Serik Temirzhanov and Khayrutdinov Youth Memorial Tournament winner Ayatulla Takizhanov are natives of the Pavlodar region who will be representing the strong country at the Bantamweight class (56 kg) and at the Light Welterweight class (64 kg) in the upcoming continental event.
Karagandy region’s Vasiliy Samchuk won three international tournaments in the recent one year and selected to take part in the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships in Pavlodar at the Light Flyweight class (49 kg). Aidos Arapov also won several international competitions in Lithuania, in Azerbaijan and in Germany and Kostanay’s technician Flyweight class (52 kg) boxer has got the realistic chance to win gold in the upcoming Pavlodar event.
Atyrau region’s Lightweight class (60 kg) talent 17-year-old Kazbek Sapenov won the gold at the Serik Sapiyev Prizes Youth Tournament in January and achieved bronze at the Pavlyukov Youth Memorial Tournament in Anapa, Russia where he lost to only Uzbekistan’s AIBA Junior World Champion Bilolbek Mirzarakhimov but he will have the chance to do revenge against his neighbouring rival in Pavlodar.
Almaty’s Oleg Matveichuk replaced the injured Sadreddin Akhmedov in the squad and claimed gold medal at the Pavlyukov Youth Memorial Tournament in Anapa, Russia therefore his expectations are also high in Pavlodar. Dzhambul region’s Aman Kazangapov won the gold medal at the Bekzat Sattarkhanov Youth Memorial Tournament one month ago and received the right to box at the Middleweight class (75 kg).
Taraz’s Eldiyar Kamchibekov was born in 1999 therefore he is spending only his first year in the youth level but he is also a strong talent. Kostanay’s Dmitriy Akhtsiger was an unknown boxer until 2015 but in the recent months he proved he is among the bests at the Heavyweight class (91 kg). Dildabekov Prizes Junior Tournament winner Nurdaulet Ulanuly is the youngest team member who will be turning to 17 only in June.
The head coach of the Kazakh youth national squad Mr. Galymbek Kenzhebayev selected strong boxers in spite of the fact some of their top talents are injured.
