Usenaliev, Kaur and Seesondee were the heroes of the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event on Day2

The Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event continued with two sessions in Amman, Jordan where the crowd could follow exciting and world class fights. Thailand’s Sudaporn Seesondee, India’s Simranjit Kaur and Kyrgyzstan’s Azat Usenaliev won key contests in the second competition day in Amman.

More than 200 boxers are competing in the event which is one of the most important Asian challenges of the year. Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, India, China, Australia, Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Mongolia, Chinese Taipei, Tajikistan, Jordan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan and Philippines attend in the event with the biggest and strongest delegations in Amman.

Philippines’ defending AIBA Women’s World Champion Nesthy Petecio dominated her opening fight in Amman

Sri Lanka’s Krismi Ayomi Dulanjani Dharmathilake eliminated Indonesia’s Ratu Silpalau in the first competition day at the featherweight (57kg) but she did not have rest in Amman as she had to attend on Day2 against another Southeast Asian rival. Her second opponent was the Seed No.1 the defending AIBA Women’s World Champion Nesthy Petecio who was never stopped attacking in their contest. Petecio was in different level than her Sri Lankan opponent and caught Dharmathilake with excellent hooks which means the Filipino No.1 can box against a dangerous teenager Japan’s two-time AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Sena Irie in the quarter-finals.

The South Korean ladies impressed on Day2

South Korea has got two world class female boxers in their current line-ups and both dominated their fights on Day2 of the Qualifiers. AIBA Women’s Youth World Champion Im Ae Ji used her speed to catch Nepal’s Minu Gurung and controlled all of the rounds in their featherweight (57kg) fight. South Korea’s Asian Games winner and two-time ASBC Asian Women’s Champion Oh Yeon Ji is one of the top favourite boxers at the lightweight (60kg) who used her aggressive attacks to land punches against Tajikistan’s Shoira Zulkaynarova. The South Korean boxer was smaller but her speed and frequency delivered for her a clear success in Amman.

Mongolia’s Enkhmandakh Kharkhuu and Thailand’s Thitisan Panmod proved their strong developments at the men’s flyweight (52kg)

Mongolia’s Enkhmandakh Kharkhuu joined to the national team three years ago and he moved forward in the international stage step by step. The Mongolian flyweight (52kg) boxer replaced Gan-Erdene Gankhuyag in the national team and used his strength in his opening contest. Kharkhuu is one of the strongest punchers in this weight class and after his tough combinations the referee confirmed his RSC success over Tajikistan’s Shukhrat Sabzaliyev in the second round. Thailand’s AIBA Youth World Champion Thitisan Panmod turned to 19 last December and proved his strong developments against Bhutan’s Tashi Wangdi in the first preliminary round.

Kyrgyzstan’s team captain Azat Usenaliev eliminated a top Japanese rival

Kyrgyzstan’s best boxer Azat Usenaliev won the gold medal at the Amman 2013 ASBC Asian Boxing Championships in 2013. After seven years of hard work and strong successes, the Kyrgyz team captain returned to Jordan’s capital. Usenaliev won more than 90% of his fights in the recent two years and bowed out Japan’s Olympic Test Event winner Ryomei Tanaka in a hectic contest. The Kyrgyz boxer will be facing with Kazakhstan’s AIBA World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Saken Bibossynov in the last 16 which could be another exciting combat in Amman.

Thailand’s Sudaporn Seesondee and India’s Simranjit Kaur won key contests at the women’s lightweight (60kg)

Thailand’s AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships silver medallist Sudaporn Seesondee was not seeded at the lightweight (60kg) but she is one of the best boxers in the Asian continent in that category. The experienced Thai boxer was slightly better than China’s Yang Wenlu and advanced to the last eight of the weight class. In another top bout in that category India’s AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Simranjit Kaur worked well and eliminated another favourite, Kazakhstan’s Rimma Volosenko.
