The new generation shined in the women’s finals of the Mongolian Elite National Championships

The women’s part of the Mongolian Elite National Championships finished in Ulaanbaatar where twelve boxers celebrated their gold medals. Their young generations as Balsan Mungunsaran, Yesugen Oyuntsetseg, Namuun Monkhor, and Tugsjargal Nomin-Erdene won their weight categories in the female finals.

The Mongolian girls impressed in the ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan this January where two of their boxers won gold medals. The Mongolians hosted the 2019 edition of the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships and some of those talents are already in their elite national team.

Altogether 65 women boxers attended in the Mongolian Elite National Championships in their new edition. The women’s bantamweight (54kg) was the most crowded category with the participation of 10 boxers. This was the very first time in the history of the Mongolian Women’s National Championships when all of the 12 weight categories involved to the official program including the light heavyweight (81kg) and heavyweight (+81kg).

Jamchiv Nyamsuren, who defeated the two main rivals as Beisenbei Janarguli and Ochirsukh Enkhmaa at the minimumweight (48kg), achieved the first gold medal of the Mongolian Women’s Elite National Championships. Balsan Mungunsaran impressed in the recent competitions including at the Tashkent 2022 ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships and she earned the title at the light flyweight (50kg) after beating Nergui Oyun-Erdene.  

Lutsaikhan Altantsetseg was quarter-finalist in the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships and she is a top boxer in Mongolia. Following the introductions of the new categories, she competed at the flyweight (52kg) in National Championships where she proved her very best against Purevdorj Khulan in the final of the event. 

The women’s bantamweight (54kg) is the most difficult category in Mongolia where four boxers were named before the start of the National Championships. ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships bronze medallist Yesugen Oyuntsetseg eliminated AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Myagmardulam Nandintsetseg, ASBC Asian U22 Champion Enkhjargal Munguntsetseg and Erdenedalai Michidmaa during her road to the title of this strong weight class.

AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Namuun Monkhor is only 23 this year but she has seven years of international experiences. The young Mongolian moved down to the featherweight (57kg) and defeated former ASBC Asian Champion veteran Bolortuul Tumurkhuyag. ASBC Asian Junior Champion teenage talent Tugsjargal Nomin-Erdene defeated ASBC Asian U22 Champion Badmaarag Ganzorig during her road to the title of the lightweight (60kg) delivering a surprise.

Experienced Uranbileg Shinetsetseg won the title of the light welterweight (63kg) where she defeated a young talent, Myagmarsuren Tsetsegdari in the final by split decision. Erdenesoyol Uyanga is also well-experienced in the national team and she has done strong performance against Davaa Gerelsaikhan at the welterweight (66kg). Erdenetuya Enkhbaatar has experiences from several international events therefore she was too strong for Erdenetsogt Namuun in the final of the light middleweight (70kg).

Namjin Anu competed mostly in the junior and youth national teams in the past and earned her first elite title following her success over Tsend-Ayush Naranjargal who caused a sensation in the last four when she stopped the top favourite, Munkhbat Myagmarjargal. Azimbai Zeinep won the title of the light heavyweight (81kg) while Altanzul Maralaa earned the last gold medal of the national event.
