The Gujarat Giants advanced to the semi-finals of the Big Bout Indian Boxing League following their 5-2 victory over the Bengaluru Brawlers

The Bombay Bullets won the first match of the twelfth day of boxing in the Indian Big Bout Boxing League but a next encounter was also held on the same day. Following the Bombay Bullets, the Gujarat Giants have booked their semi-final places to the knockout stage after beating the Bengaluru Brawlers 5-2.

Big Bout is the official name of the Indian Boxing League which is a new program of the Boxing Federation of India which will be closing the busy year of 2019. Boxing Federation of India covered all costs for the boxers including flight tickets, accommodation, meals and local transportation, furthermore strong money prizes for the boxers. The competition period of the League is from December 2 until December 21 which is open for top foreign boxers as well.  

Bengaluru’s most experienced female boxer in the franchise is Pinki Jangra Rani who is member of the national team since 2011 but currently she is only No.3 in India at the women’s flyweight (51kg). The 29-year-old boxer controlled all of the rounds against Rajesh Narwal and took the lead for the Bengaluru Brawlers which was equalized Gujarat’s World Military Games bronze medallist Chirag who won his fight at the men’s bantamweight (57kg) by the Referee Stopped the Contest.

Gujarat’s Scottish addition, former AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships silver medallist Scott Forrest won the heavyweight (91kg) fight and secured his next success. Gujarat’s third-in-a-row triumph was delivered by ASBC Asian Women’s Youth Champion Poonam who is only 17 but dominates her fights in 2019. This time she was better than Meenakshi therefore Gujarat led 3-1 after four contests.

Gujarat Giants’ fourth success meant the franchise defeated their rivals which victory was taken by Manisha Narwal at the women’s lightweight (60kg) who defeated Priti Banekar. Bengaluru Brawlers’ Ashish Saroha was better than Sanjay Kumar at the men’s flyweight (52kg) while the last bout of the encounter was won by ASBC Asian Boxing Championships bronze medallist Ashish Kulhriya who succeeded over Gee Bee Tournament silver medallist Dinesh Dagar at the welterweight (69kg).
