The first edition of the Games of the Commonwealth of the Independent States in will be held on August 19-28

The first edition of the Games of the Commonwealth of the Independent States will be held in Kazan, Russia between August 19 and 28 where more than 3500 young athletes are expected to take part. Altogether 21 sports are in the official program of the multisport tournament in Kazan and among them 20 boxing events are in the schedule.

The U22 age group is eligible to attend in the Games of the Commonwealth of the Independent States which means boxers who were born in 1998, in 1999, in 2000 and in 2001 can compete for the medals in Kazan. All of the teams can participate with maximum number of 20 women and men boxers, 6 coaches, two physiotherapists, one team doctor, one cutman and one referee & judge.

The arrival of the teams to the 1st Games of the Commonwealth of the Independent States is August 19. The weigh-in and the Technical Meeting will be held on August 20 while the competition period of the Games is August 21-27. The departures of the delegations from Kazan is August 28.

Kazan hosted the 2013 edition of the Summer Universiade where such stars as Uzbekistan’s Olympic Champion Hasanboy Dusmatov and Russia’s AIBA World Champion Andrey Zamkovoy were among the gold medallists. Tatarstan’s capital city Kazan welcomed many other sport events in the recent one decade proving their commitment to develop the region’s sport life including boxing.

Eleven CIS nations are eligible to attend in the Games of the Commonwealth of the Independent States in Kazan. Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Armenia and Azerbaijan can take part from the European part of the Commonwealth of the Independent States. Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan are eligible to attend from the Central Asian region.

The Games will be held in the following 10 women’s weight classes: light flyweight (48kg), flyweight (51kg), bantamweight (54kg), featherweight (57kg), lightweight (60kg), light welterweight (64kg), welterweight (69kg), middleweight (75kg), light heavyweight (81kg) and heavyweight (+81kg).

The men’s categories will be the following in the Games of the Commonwealth of the Independent States: light flyweight (49kg), flyweight (52kg), bantamweight (56kg), lightweight (60kg), light welterweight (64kg), welterweight (69kg), middleweight (75kg), light heavyweight (81kg), heavyweight (91kg) and super heavyweight (+91kg).
