The Boxing Family mourns Mr. Ed Picson

The whole boxing world, the Asian Boxing Family mourns Mr. Edgar “Ed” Picson of the Philippines who passed away today. He was 69 and the Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Mr. Ed Picson’s alma mater, confirmed his passing today.

Mr. Ed Picson worked at the Sports Radio 918 and as a commentator in the PBA from the 1980s to the early 2000s. He supported the success of the Blow by Blow, a boxing show in the Philippines in the 1990s which covered also their boxing legend, Manny Pacquiao’s first professional contests.

Following that, he transitioned to the Association of the Boxing Alliances of the Philippines (ABAP) in the 2000s and he worked there as Secretary General and Executive Director to support the development of the Philippines’ boxing.

He joined the ASBC Competition Commission and he played active roles to take big events such as the Subic Bay 2013 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships and the Puerto Princesa 2017 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships.

Philippines earned three medals in the Tokyo Olympic Games on August 2021, two silver and one bronze. Short after that historic result, he was elected as the President of the Association of the Boxing Alliances of the Philippines on November 2021.

Mr. Ed Picson worked as the ASBC Communication Director & Spokesperson from April 2022 until his death.

May his soul will rest in eternal peace in the Philippines and the Boxing Family will never forget his passion for our sport.
