Thailand’s three stars advanced to the finals of the Boxam Tournament in Castellon de la Plana

The most exciting part of the traditional Boxam Tournament, the semi-finals were held for the elite female and male boxers in Castellon de la Plana, Spain today. Thailand’s three stars as ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships silver medallist Nilawan Techasuep, FISU University World Champion Yuttapong Tongdee and Asian Games winner Wuttichai Masuk all advanced to the finals.
Thailand hosted the last edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Bangkok on April. Their management sent 10 boxers including three female athletes to the new edition of the Boxam Tournament. The Boxam Tournament is part of their European tour to raise the experiences of their hopes.

Nilawan Techasuep used her distance well and advanced to the final
Nilawan Techasuep is Thailand’s top female boxer who is in top shape this year and proved her very best once again in the semi-finals of the Boxam Tournament. The ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships runner-up and Asian Games bronze medallist Techasuep eliminated Spain’s Maria del Carmen Madueno and France’s Barbara Havet during her road to the semi-finals in Castellon de la Plana. She met with Hungary’s Szabina Szucs who attended in the recent three editions of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships. Techasuep had a few difficulties in the first minute but after that she found her best rhythm and overcame the Hungarian boxer in the attacks. Techasuep’s long distance punches worked well and her best round was the third which means Thailand’s pride advanced to the final of the women’s featherweight (57kg).

Yuttapong Tongdee is Thailand’s second finalist in the Boxam Tournament
Thailand’s 2016 FISU University World Champion Yuttapong Tongdee moved back to the bantamweight (56kg) which is the perfect option for him. The 26-year-old Thai boxer eliminated Hungary’s EUBC European Confederation Boxing Championships bronze medallist Nandor Csoka in the quarter-finals of the Boxam Tournament which was his key contest in the event. Following that tight contest Tongdee dominated his semi-final against Spain’s Antonio Barrul and advanced to the final of the event. His last opponent will be Spain’s Rio 2016 Olympic Games quarter-finalist Samuel Carmona.

Wuttichai Masuk is finalist at the very first time in his new weight
Thailand’s Incheon 2014 Asian Games winner and 2015 ASBC Asian Champion Wuttichai Masuk claimed silver medal in the Cologne Boxing World Cup last month when he has done amazing performance. The 29-year-old AIBA World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Thai boxer moved up to the welterweight (69kg) and the Boxam Tournament is his first competition in this division. Masuk eliminated Hungary’s AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships quarter-finalist Laszlo Kozak in the last eight on Day2. Thailand’s No.1 produced another strong performance in the semi-finals and defeated England’s WSB boxer Conor Loftus.
