Previous youth star Sagyndyk Togambay dominated his fight at the Kazakhstan National Championships on Day4

The fourth competition day was held in the Kazakhstan Elite National Championships for their female and male boxers in the city of Shymkent where several of their top stars advanced to the next round of boxing. Two-time ASBC Asian Youth Champion Sagyndyk Togambay dominated his opening contest in the preliminary stage and advanced to the quarter-finals in Shymkent.

All of their top boxers are attending to attend in the National Championships which will be a great comeback for them after eight months of trainings without any events. Shymkent is located in the Southern part of the country in the valley of the Sayram River near to the border of Uzbekistan and famous of its boxing schools.

Altogether 94 women and 196 men boxers are attending in the Kazakhstan Elite National Championships in Shymkent. The competition is the first ever unified Kazakhstan National Championships for both genders in Shymkent while some of the spectators are approved also to follow the bouts.

AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Aizhan Khodzhabekova arrived to the venue in fantastic shape and enjoyed her easy fight against Aizhan Madibek in Shymkent. In another women’s featherweight (57kg) contest, Kostanay region’s 21-year-old Vladislava Kukhta had a close challenge against Mariya Gladkova but she managed to win their quarter-finals and got at least a bronze medal.

ASBC Asian Youth Champion Samatali Toltayev turned to 21 this month and celebrated his birthday with a success over Mangystau region’s Asylzhan Galymzhanuly in the last 16 of the lightweight (60kg). Another favourite in this category Adilet Kurmetov was member of the top national team in 2017 and he has still strong objectives in the sport which he proved against Almaty’s Daulet Seidaliyev.

Two-time AIBA World Boxing Championships bronze medlalist Ablaikhan Zhussupov is already a Tokyo Olympian and defeated veteran Sabyrzhan Bekbergenov in Shymkent. He will be meeting with ASBC Asian Youth Champion Darkhan Duisebay who moved up to the welterweight (69kg) just in the recent months. Zhussupov’s top national rival, Asian Games silver medallist Aslanbek Shymbergenov defeated Azamat Ibraimov on Day4.

Former AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships silver medallist Vadim Kazakov had to do his very best against Zhanibek Kartbayev but finally his hand was raised after the last gong. In another light heavyweight (81kg) bout, Nur-Sultan’s former ASBC Asian Junior Champion Ayat Marzhikpayev worked well against Yerkebulan Akimbay of Almaty region and celebrated his triumph.

Two-time ASBC Asian Youth Champion Sagyndyk Togambay won his first elite competition, the Gee Bee Tournament in Helsinki this March and the 19-year-old top talent is one of the favourites of the heavyweight (91kg) in Shymkent. Togambay was too strong for Mangystau region’s Azamat Nabatov and his opponent’s ringside abandoned their contest. His main rival Aibek Oralbay walked over to the quarter-finals while experienced Nurlan Sabirov and Mikhail Kokhanchik are also secured their places in the next stage.
