Munarbek Seyitbek Uulu won his key contest in the Kyrgyz Elite National Championships on Day3

The third competition day saw 25 contests at the Elite National Boxing Championships of the Kyrgyz Republic in Bishkek. Munarbek Seyitbek Uulu eliminated his main rival, Sanzhar Seidakmatov in the semi-finals and advanced to the finals. Kyrgyzstan’s ASBC Asian Champion Azat Usenaliev won his first quarter-final bout in the national event on Day3.

Kyrgyzstan’s Elite National Boxing Championships will be a selection tournament for the World Olympic Boxing Qualification Event which is scheduled to be held on June 2021. The Kyrgyz Boxing Federation arranged live online coverage during the event and the venue of the National Championships is also excellent in Bishkek.

The number of the participants is 120 including eight girls and fourteen champions will be crowned in the Kyrgyz National Championships in the end of the week. The most popular category is the welterweight (69kg) where 18 boxers are fighting for the medals but the light welterweight (63kg) have got also tough battles.

Kyrgyzstan’s ASBC Asian Champion and Asian Games bronze medallist Azat Usenaliev is member of the national team since 2007 and won more than 90% of his international contests in the recent two and half years. The Kyrgyz No.1 opened his campaign in the national event but he was too strong for Islam Meshanlo of Chui region at the flyweight (52kg). His semi-final opponent will be Chui region’s Islam Marov in the next competition day.

Zhakshylyk Tilek Uulu is the Youth National Champion at the flyweight (52kg) and following his opening success in the preliminary stage of the event, the 18-year-old boxer met with another teenage hope Nurseit Ashirmamatov who represented Kyrgyzstan at the Ulaanbaatar 2019 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships. Tilek Uulu used the best attacking angles to beat his 19-year-old rival and joined to the last four of the event.

Osh’s Munarbek Seyitbek Uulu achieved bronze medal at the Bangkok 2014 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships and he is the most experienced boxer at the featherweight (57kg). The 24-year-old boxer had to meet with Bishkek’s promising Sanzhar Seidakmatov in the semi-finals which was one of the most anticipated contests of the day. Seyitbek Uulu had to box over his limit to beat the 20-year-old youngster but his experiences decided the contest in Bishkek.

Osh region’s Khusniddin Pratov delivered one of the main surprises of the third competition day when he bowed out Almanbet Alibekov who has got nearly 10 years of international experiences. The lightweight (60kg) saw further tough battles in Bishkek where 19-year-old Mirzokhid Imamnazarov and Talas region’s Temirlan Nurlan Uulu won their excellent quarter-finals.

ASBC Asian Youth Champion Nuradin Rustambek Uulu is only 19 but he is the main favourite for the gold medal at the welterweight (69kg). He used his fantastic tempo to beat Bishkek’s Kanat Aralbekov and will be meeting for the final with Omurbek Mamanov who eliminated Adilet Egenberdi Uulu. Bishkek Open Champion Zhakshylyk Talaybekov and Syrgak Abdyzhapar Uulu also secured their places in the last four.

ASBC Asian Boxing Championships quarter-finalist Omurbek Bekzhigit Uulu defeated his fellow Begaly Abdurasul Uulu in the last eight of the middleweight (75kg). Another favourite, former AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Adilet Batyraliev also advanced to the semi-finals in that weight category. Rio 2016 Olympian Erkin Adylbek Uulu was too strong for Aibek Akmatbekov in the quarter-finals of the light heavyweight (81kg).
