Olympic champion Jalolov returns to the Uzbekistan National Championships with a bang

Tokyo Olympics gold medalist and former world champion Bakhodir Jalolov made an explosive return to the Uzbekistan Elite National Championships in the capital city of Tashkent.

Coming off his professional boxing career, Jalolov, who is also a three-time ASBC Asian elite titlist, walloped the younger Jamshid Hudayberganov in all three rounds for a roaring 5-0 start in the super heavyweight (+92kg) class.

The 28-year-old Olympic flag bearer advanced to the quarterfinals only but with that success but he is back on track.

Meanwhile, Mukhsinbek Kuraboyev came through with a stunning second-round RSC victory against two-time reigning Asian titlist Saidjamshid Jafarov who moved down to light middleweight (71kg).

Asian youth champion Abduvali Buriboyev eked out a split decision over veteran Fazliddin Kattakulov despite climbing to featherweight (57kg) while ASBC junior bronze finisher Bekzod Kholdorov coasted to a 4-1 debut over  Mukhammadjon Kattaboyev in featherweight.

In the women’s category preliminaries, Tokyo Olympics quarterfinalist Raykhona Kodirova stopped Gulshoda Norkulova in lightweight (60kg).

Asian youth medalist Dilfuza Bekova schooled teenage pug Mokhira Akhmedova, 5-0, also in lightweight.

Almost 300 boxers joined the national tilt wherein experienced international technical officials such as Mr. Andrew Caulfield of Scotland and Mr. Zoltan Szalma of Hungary are serving as Observer and Evaluator, respectively.
