Kazakhstan Youth Men National Championships draws 244 boxers

A total of 244 promising boxers have joined the Kazakhstan Youth Men’s National Championships 2022 that will run for seven days in Aktobe.

Fourteen champions from pinweight (46kg) to super heavyweight (+92kg) will be crowned at the end of the tournament for pugilists born in 2004 and 2005. The pinweight (46kg) is an addition to the official youth weight categories but a traditional weight class in Kazakhstan.

All of the regions and the main cities of Kazakhstan have sent their youth male boxers. The bantamweight (54kg) and featherweight (57kg) divisions have the highest number of contestants with 26 each.

The lightweight (60kg) is also popular with 25 talents on the board. The welterweight (67kg) is one of the strongest categories in Kazakhstan based on the traditions and 24 youth talents are competing for the medals in that division in Aktobe.

Youth World Championships campaigners Bakhtiyar Anarbayev and Ilya Kalinin are expected to dominate in the lightweight (60kg) class while two-time ASBC Asian junior titlist Torekhan Sabyrkhan is seen to do the same in light welterweight (63.5kg).

Also projected to shine in the meet are Asian youth silver medalist Yerdos Sharipbek, Ivan Yermolenko (super heavy), Damir Baipakov (fly-51kg), Madiyar Taipakov (welter-67kg), Islam Sovetov (light middle-71kg), and Viktor Litvinov (light heavy-80kg)

The Kazakhstan Boxing Federation is eager to discover new talents who will replicate or surpass the country’s performance in the latest ASBC Asian Youth Championships.

Kazakhstan racked up two gold, five silver and four bronze medals in the latest continental youth tourney held in Amman, Jordan earlier this year.

Kazakhstan had two male finalists in the Youth World Boxing Championships in La Nucia, Spain last month but Nurbek Mursal and Daulet Tulemissov both received the right to rest following their silver medals.
