Nuradin Rustambek Uulu leads 13-man Kyrgyz squad for Asian U22 Championships

Rising star Nuradin Rustambek Uulu banners the 13-strong Kyrgyzstan national team that will gun for a breakthrough gold medal in the ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships 2023 on January 16-27 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Rustambek, a former Asian youth champion, will aim to sustain his bronze medal-winning performance in the most recent Asian Elite Championships when he fights it out in the light middleweight (71kg) class.

The 21-year-old standout won silver in the inaugural edition of the Asian U22 Championships last year in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Fellow reigning national titlists Islam Torobayev (bantam-54kg), Turgunbek Imankadyrov (feather-57kg), Askat Kultayev (light welter-63.5kg), Daniel Abdurakhmanov (middle-75kg), Nursultan Bolotbayev (cruiser-86kg) and Oomatbek Elchoro Uulu (super heavy-+92kg) will also join the first major tournament of 2023.

Last year’s Asian U22 silver finisher Mirzokhid Imamnazarov (light-60kg) as well as bronze winners Anvarzhan Khodzhiyev (minimum-48kg) and Bakyt Toktosun Uulu (heavy-92kg) are also in the national team.

Rounding out the squad are Bayel Urostombay Uulu (fly-51kg), Ikhtiyar Nishonov (welter-67kg) and Bekbol Murasbekov (light heavy-80kg).

Head coach Daniyar Tologon Uulu will be at the helm of the team together with coaches Ulan Sagynbayev, Aibek Baysayakov and Beishembek Sabatarov.

Kyrgyzstan will shoot for a first Asian U22 gold medal in Bangkok after winning four silvers and four bronzes last year.
