Fifteen winners hailed in the Turkmenistan Junior National Championships
Fifteen young aspirants shone the brightest among the 200 participants and took the titles in the Turkmenistan Junior National Boxing Championships 2022 held in the city of Dashoguz.
The newly-crowned champions earned a chance to join the national team that will compete in the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships 2023.
Mary region’s Eziz Shukurov was the first winner of the junior national event, he defeated Maksat Astanov of Lebap in the final of the 42kg weight class. Suleyman Dovletov is another 15-year-old talent from the Dashoguz region and he had the skills to beat Nurmyrat Saparov in the final of the 44kg category.
Emerging talents Sanur Artykbayev (46kg), Mekan Sabyrov (50kg), Hojamberdi Ovezniyazov (52kg) and Ismayyl Gurbanberdiyev (54kg) spearheaded the charge for the capital city of Ashgabat which topped the medal standings with six golds.
Annageldi Meretnyyazov, Aziz Arslanov and Mergen Hojamammeedov were the favourites at the busy lightweight (60kg) but finally a local boxer, Aziz Kultayev earned the title of the category. Dashoguz’s next two gold medals were achieved by Hursant Artykov and Dayanch Durdynepesov at the strong light welterweight (63kg) and welterweight (66kg).
Host Dashoguz wound up as runner-up with five titles even as the regions of Mary, Balkan and Lebap also captured gold medals.
The tournament conducted the 13 official weight classes while the 42kg and 44kg categories were added to the program.
The boxers who were born in 2006 and 2007 were eligible to attend in the Turkmenistan Junior National Championships in Dashoguz. More than 200 junior talents competed in the junior national event which was above the level of the previous editions in Turkmenistan where their management is trying to build up their next successful generation.
Renowned national technical official Mr. Nurmyrat Gurbanmyradov and experienced coach Mr. Tenilbek Dzhumakulov oversaw the national tourney.
