Mr. Mohamed Kamel Shbib – The ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships was a real 5-stars event

The President of the Syrian Arab Boxing Association Mr. Mohamed Kamel Shbib is one of the most experienced officials in our continent who has been supporting Asia’s boxing life since the 1970s. He was Supervisor and Technical Delegate of several major international championships in the recent decades.

Mr. Mohamed Kamel Shbib worked as ITO in the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in the recent weeks and summarized his experiences about the event.

“It was taking more than 24 hours to me to reach Dubai through Beyrouth and Sharjah. I could leave Syria by car to Lebanon’s capital and after that I flew with connections to the venue of the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships.

The Le Meridien Hotel had excellent 5-stars services, and I believe all of the teams are satisfied with that. We started with the excellent Opening Ceremony after the Sport Entries Check, Technical Meeting and Official Draw.

Fifteen nations arrived to compete in this ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships despite of our difficult period. India, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan had the biggest delegations in Dubai while Bahrain and Sri Lanka were the smallest ones.

The staff of the Asian Boxing Confederation worked hard to make this event very good and while the volunteers were also well-educated and strengthened the event. The Technical Delegate, the ITOs, the Referees & Judges all worked hard from the morning until midnight every day to arrange a successful event.

I can call this ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships was a 5-stars event and I appreciate the hard job of the Asian Boxing Confederation and United Arab Emirates Boxing Federation.

Four countries claimed gold medals in this event, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, India and Iran but we could see also very good boxers from Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Iraq and Mongolia. I believe that Nepal, Bahrain, Kuwait and Palestine also developed a lot in comparison to the previous years.

The best boxers arrived from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and India as usual. Many of the Asian nations improved in this hard period, their training methods are strong and Asia could be the leader of the boxing world once again.

Syria sent only six boxers to this event but it was our comeback to the international stage after more than one and half year of break. We are planning to take care of our junior and youth boxers more actively in the near future. Our next event will be the Military World Boxing Championships in September where eight of our boxers registered to attend,” said Mr. Mohamed Kamel Shbib after the competition.
