Mr. Andrew Caulfield – I congratulate all of the participants, officials, and R&Js who worked in a very high standard in Dubai

The ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and the event delivered another success for the continent after the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships.

Mr. Andrew Caulfield of Scotland worked as Observer of the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships. He won several national titles as a boxer, competed internationally between 1984 and 1993 including at the Auckland 1990 Commonwealth Games. He competed at the 1984 European Junior Boxing Championships therefore he knows the feelings of the young talents who attended in Dubai.

Mr. Andrew Caulfield worked as Olympic Observer of all Qualifying Events, supported the success of several events as ITO and Evaluator and led several R&J Courses and educational programs in the recent years. The Scottish official summarized his experiences, feelings and congratulated to all of the Referees & Judges who worked in very high level during the long event.

“It was very easy for me even with the Covid-19 restrictions to reach Dubai from my own country, Scotland. The travelling restrictions eased a few weeks before the start of the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships.

The Opening Ceremony was spectacular, is showed great organizing of ASBC to achieve such a showcase for all teams, and a real cultural experience of Dubai. To organize a tournament of such high standards especially during the pandemic restrictions, is a remarkable achievement. The championship was the very highest standard for all young persons to compete.

It was a great achievement to have such high number of boxers attending during these difficult times. It shows the hard work and support of the affiliated Asian National Federations, coaches, and team managers. All of the participating countries should be proud of their achievements and used this great opportunity to showcase their talents.

I believe that everyone felt good again after the long period of inactivity due to the pandemic. The future of the Asian boxers is certainly bright, we followed the several talents in this ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships. All of the competitors were winners for being able to show their skills during their victories and defeats. The level was very high and this produced many close contests in Dubai.

The work of the Referees & Judges improved as the tournament progressed, due to the fact that many of them were not able to work in big events due to the pandemic situation. They showed excellent professional standards every day. All of them learned from seminars carried out every day from the Evaluators of the competition, Mr. Pat Fiacco of Canada, Mr. Mohamed Braham of Tunisia and myself.

The championship was a great accomplishment of ASBC and I must congratulate to President Mr. Anas Alotaiba and his team for arranging a wonderful event with the vision for the young boxers to achieve their dreams. Congratulations to Ali, Bassam and Omar to their great job in the event and special thanks to Mrs. Marina Ni of Kazakhstan who worked as Technical Delegate in the event.

The neutral Referees & Judges worked hard in this ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships. Ms. Veronika Szucs of Hungary and Mr. Aleksandr Hamidov of Uzbekistan impressed and became the best referees in Dubai,” summarized his experiences Mr. Andrew Caulfield of Scotland.
