Mr. Chunhavajira elated with federations’ interest to join ASBC elite tourney

Asian Boxing Confederation (ASBC) President Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira is glad to see the enormous interest shown by the affiliated national federations to participate in the fast-approaching ASBC Asian Elite Men’s & Women’s Championships 2022.

Kazakhstan is all set for its overall title defense even as fellow previous edition gold medal winners Uzbekistan, Mongolia and India are out to steal the throne.

China, the overall champion in 2019, will make its comeback and try to reclaim the crown while Bhutan, Hong Kong, South Korea and Turkmenistan will also return to the major continental competition.

Afghanistan, Bahrain, Cambodia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, host nation Jordan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Syria, Chinese Taipei, Tajikistan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates and Vietnam have also confirmed their participation.

After nine years, the Asian Elite Championships will take place once again in the Jordanian capital of Amman, with the final dates scheduled on October 30 to November 13.

The Jordan Amateur Boxing Association, with the help of the ASBC, will organize an international elite training camp on October 14 to 29 to help the boxers acclimatize with the weather and environment.

Amman is no stranger to hosting big tournaments, having staged the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Championships last March and the Asia & Oceania Olympic Qualifying Tournament in 2020.
