Bahrain hosts first ‘Domestic Boxing’ event

The Bahrain Boxing Federation (BBF) recently organized another commendable event called the “Domestic Boxing” which was a competition made to inspire and encourage young and adult local residents alike into taking up the sport.

Launched last September 23, the tournament was open for anyone interested. It ran for more than six hours and featured 19 contests across the junior, elite women and elite men categories.

Exhibition matches under the schoolboys division were also held.

Bahrain’s first-ever ASBC Asian medalist Sayed Fadhel Abbas Abdulla joined the inaugural event and delivered a sensational performance.

The 19-year-old Asian Youth Championships 2021 bronze winner Abdulla dominated Mohamed Al-Mahasi of the Warriors Gym in the men’s lightweight (60kg) class.

Bahrain national team head coach and BBF technical director Mr. Tony Davis bared that they are planning to make Domestic Boxing a quarterly or even a monthly project in the future.

 Men’s Elite 75kg: Yousif Abdul Ganiyu
