Mohamed Jaber Haqawi defended his throne in the Saudi Arabian Junior National Championships

The Saudi Arabian Junior National Championships was held in the city of Abha which is located in the Northern part of the country. Mohamed Jaber Haqawi secured his next national title and defended his throne in the Saudi Arabian Junior National Championships in Abha proving he is a future hope in the country.
Boxers who were born in 2002 or in 2003 were eligible to fight in the Saudi Arabian Junior National Championships in Abha. Saudi Arabia competed in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships which was the comeback of the country to the continental level.
The first gold medal of the Saudi Arabian Junior National Championships was taken by Damak’s Walid Al-Izie who defeated Al-Taraji’s Housen Al-Badan at the pinweight (46kg). Oqaz’s first gold medal was achieved by Schoolboys National Champion Osama Jaber Al-Faifi who was too smart for Riyadh’s Obada Takrouni in the final of the light flyweight (48kg). Al-Faifi arrived to the competition from a great Saudi boxing family and proved his technique and developed skills in Abha.
Damak’s second title was taken by Mouhsen Al-Ali who achieved silver medal in the 2017 edition of the Saudi Arabian Junior National Championships but this time he was able to change that colour into gold following his triumph over Riyadh’s Abdulrahman Sharahili in the final of the flyweight (50kg).
Riyadh’s Abdelaziz Al-Outiebi has got experiences from the last edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships which paid off for the 16-year-old boxer in the National Championships. Al-Outiebi, who trains and lives in the their capital city, launched more effective punches than Al-Taraji’s Mohamed Al-Khazam in the fourth final of the Saudi Arabian Junior National Championships.
Makka’s first gold medal was acquired by Faysal Moutifi who defeated Damak’s Fahid Sharahili in the final of the bantamweight (54kg) in Abha. Riyadh’s Mohamed Tamoum is not an experienced boxer yet in Saudi Arabia but he moved ahead bravely which paid off against Oqaz’s Abdellah Aoaji in the final of the featherweight (57kg). Riyadh’s next champion in Abha became Ali Moushatar at the lightweight (60kg) following his triumph over Oqaz’s Ali Al-Asmari in the gold medal bout.
Riyadh continued its winning series at the light welterweight (63kg) where Issa Bou Hashem was able to beat Al-Taraji’s Osama Al-Faraj in the next final of the national event. Makka’s second gold medal in the Saudi Arabian Junior National Championships was captured by Omiri Al-Azam after beating Damak’s Saad Musa at the light middleweight (70kg).
Damak’s best junior boxer Mohamed Jaber Haqawi arrived to the Saudi Arabian Junior National Championships as the titleholder of the event. Haqawi proved high confidence and felt the rhythm in the whole event in Abha where he defeated Makka’s Mohammad Al-Zihrani in the semi-final and Oqaz’s Jaber Ahmad Al-Faifi in the final of the heavyweight (+80kg).
