Medallists from Dubai, Bangkok, Jakarta and Kielce represent Kyrgyzstan at the AIBA World Boxing Championships

Kyrgyzstan confirmed its final travelling team to the AIBA World Boxing Championships which will be held in Belgrade, Serbia from October 24. Kyrgyzstan’s medallists from the recent editions of the ASBC Asian Boxing Championships as Mirlan Turkbay Uulu, Azat Usenaliev, Akylbek Esenbek Uulu, Erkin Adylbek Uulu and Rustam Yrysbek Uulu all will be travelling to Belgrade.

Their coaches as Mr. Akyikat Abayev, Aibek Baysayakov, Ulan Sagynbayev and Daniyar Tologon Uulu selected 12 boxers to the travelling team but they had to change one boxer at the weekend due to an injury. Zharkynbek Turatov replaced former AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Islamzhan Dalibayev at the middleweight (75kg).

Kyrgyzstan claimed four bronze medals in the Dubai 2021 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships and their squad competed also successfully at the Kielce 2021 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships where the Central Asian country claimed one bronze medal. The Kyrgyz boxers had National Championships in September which was their selection competition for the AIBA World Boxing Championships.

ASBC Asian Boxing Championships bronze medallist Mirlan Turkbay Uulu had to do his very best in the Kyrgyz National Championships against promising 19-year-old Anvarzhon Khodzhiyev but the light flyweight (48kg) boxer was able to win that important contest. Azat Usenaliev is the most experienced Kyrgyz boxer who claimed gold medal at the Amman 2013 ASBC Asian Boxing Championships, bronze in Dubai and another one at the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games.

Sanzhar Seidakmatov had strong youth career and joined to the elite national team at the very first time following his gold medal at the bantamweight (54kg) in the national event. Akylbek Esenbek Uulu competed several international events in 2021 and won medals on all of these occasions in Turkey, Serbia and UAE. Munarbek Seitbek Uulu is an experienced national team member who competed in the international stage already in 2013.

Zhantoro Tashiyev won bronze medal at the Kielce 2021 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships and the 19-year-old talent was named as the best boxer in the Kyrgyz National Championships therefore he has strong expectations also in Belgrade. Zhakshylyk Talaybekov received the right at the very first time to compete in a major event and represents Kyrgyzstan at the welterweight (67kg).

Nuradin Rustambek Uulu earned a historical gold medal for Kyrgyzstan at the 2019 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships and the 20-year-old boxer can show his excellent technical skills in Belgrade. Zharkynbek Turatov is a replacement at the middleweight (75kg) while ASBC Asian Boxing Championships quarter-finalist 21-year-old Omurbek Bekzhigit Uulu moved up to the light heavyweight (80kg).

Rio 2016 Olympian 30-year-old Erkin Adylbek Uulu has the height to compete at the cruiserweight (86kg) in Belgrade where he can use his experiences and more than 200 contests to win tough battles. Rustam Yrysbek Uulu was also bronze medallist at the Dubai 2021 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships as Erkin Adylbek Uulu and will compete at the heavyweight (92kg) in Belgrade.
