Makhmudov, Kushbakov and Rakhmatov are the bests in the Dushanbe City Youth Championships

The Dushanbe City Youth Boxing Championships was held in the capital city of Tajikistan where 10 champions have been crowned in the event. Voris Makhmudov, Fuzaili Kushbakov and Sorbon Rakhmatov were the bests on the event and the trio claimed gold medals defeating their opponents by large margin of differences.

Tajikistan reached strong results in the ASBC events this year, Bakhodur Usmonov claimed gold medal in Bangkok while Abdurakhim Yokubov also won title in the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships. Their results showed the high potential of Tajikistan’s national teams for the future and their excellent chances for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Boxers who were born in 2001 and in 2002 were eligible to attend in the Dushanbe City Youth Boxing Championships. The Dushanbe City Youth Championships was a preparation event for Tajikistan’s top boxers for the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships and supported to increase their experiences.

The first gold medal was taken by Isroil Idrisov who defeated Ayub Kholov unanimously in the final of the light flyweight (49kg). Abubakr Rakhimov was the main favourite for the gold medal at the flyweight (52kg) and he realized his goal in Dushanbe winning the final against 17-year-old Siyovush Odinazoda.

One of the biggest names of this event was Voris Makhmudov who reached strong national results in the recent one and half year and arrived to the Dushanbe City Youth Boxing Championships as top favourite for the gold of the bantamweight (56kg). Following his impressive performance, he defeated Farkhod Khodjiyev in the final of the event.

The best Dushanbe-based lightweight (60kg) boxer Mekhrob Khomidov had to miss in the event and in his absence Kirom Mashrabov was able to win the title of the division following his triumph over Abdurakhmon Davronov. The next gold medal was achieved by Rasul Akhadov who had a difficult quarter-final against Elyor Sulaymonov but after that success, he stopped Jonmukhammad Sherov in the final of the light welterweight (64kg).

Saidakbar Kotibov was nervous in his semi-final against Sukhrob Rakhmonov but he managed his gold medal at the welterweight (69kg) after beating Nurmukhammad Mirzoyev. Isomiddin Saidov is a strong boxer who came from a boxing family therefore his success at the middleweight (75kg) over Mekhro Mirzoyev was not a surprise in the Dushanbe City Youth Boxing Championships.

The next gold medal was achieved by Kuvvatali Turayev at the light heavyweight (81kg) who defeated Nurmukhammad Ashurov in the final. Youth National Champion Fuzaili Kushbakov controlled his fights at the heavyweight (91kg) and defeated Alijon Kurbonov and Shokhrukh Mirshoyev as well. The las gold medal was taken by Youth National Champion Sorbon Rakhmatov who defeated his main rivals as Bakhman Rasulov and Islom Khafizov.
