Eleven strong Thai boxers are ready to get medals in the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualification Event

Thailand arrived with 11 boxers to the venue of the upcoming Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event to Amman, Jordan. Thailand has got technician boxers and their young hopes are among the bests in the world therefore their expectations are high in the forthcoming Qualifier.

Thailand achieved medals in the recent AIBA and ASBC events and their new generation could be a sensation in Amman. The management of the Thai team built up strong grassroots from 2013 to develop their schoolboys, junior and youth boxers. Their seven years of seriously hard work paid off in the recent two years on the youth events and these boxers will be attending at the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event.

The team is one of the youngest ones in the history of Thailand’s boxing life, an excellent combination of veterans and teenagers.  Five out of the 11 participating Thai boxers were born in 2000 or in 2001 and reached amazing successes among the youth boxers winning medals and titles in the top international events.

Two-time AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships Chuthamat Raksat was replaced by Jutamas Jitpong at the women’s flyweight (51kg) but the 22-year-old boxer has got the skills to do surprises in Amman. Nilawan Techasuep joined to the national team only two years ago but since then she claimed bronze at the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games and silver at the Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Women’s Boxing Championships.

Sudaporn Seesondee is the most experienced Thai woman boxer who claimed silver in the New Delhi 2018 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships and member of the national team since 2010. She had all of the experiences and skills to beat the bests of the weight class as South Korea’s Oh Yeon Ji or Australia’s Anja Stridsman.

Manikon Baison is a tall boxer at the welterweight (69kg) who joined to the elite age group only this January but she is the defending ASBC Asian Youth Champion in that category. Another 2001 born teenager Pornnipa Chutee is the fifth female boxer of the Thai team who will be making her debut in the international events in Amman.

Thitisan Panmod claimed gold medal in the Budapest 2018 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships and the 19-year-old flyweight (52kg) boxer returned to the national elite team following his operation. Thailand’s veteran boxer Chatchai Decha Butdee was ASBC Asian Champion in 2015 and earned bronze medal at the Almaty 2013 AIBA World Boxing Championships.

Atichai Phoemsap is one of the biggest hopes of the boxing world who won all of the three top youth events in 2018 and the 19-year-old boxer is ready to do his breakthrough in the elite boxers in Amman. Thailand’s most experienced male boxer Asian Games winner and ASBC Asian Champion Wuttichai Masuk moved up to the welterweight (69kg) and acclimatized to his new category quickly.

Weerapon Jongjoho achieved gold at the 2018 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships and he was named as the Best Boxer at the 2019 Bornemissza Youth Memorial Tournament. The 18-year-old middleweight (75kg) boxer will be making his debut in the elite competitions just in Amman. Thailand’s veteran light heavyweight (81kg) boxer Anavat Thongkrathok was replaced by Jakkapong Yomkhot in the national team.
