Champions as Kyzaibay, Zholaman and Shakimova are in Kazakhstan’s line-ups at the Ulan-Ude 2019 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships

Kazakhstan is one of our key Asian nations which will be attending in the upcoming AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships where their two-time AIBA Women’s World Champion Nazym Kyzaibay returns to the global event. The AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships will be held in Ulan-Ude, Russian Federation and starts on October 3 with the preliminary bouts.
Kazakhstan hosted the Astana 2016 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships where their female hopes claimed four titles. Among them Nazym Kyzaibay and Dina Zholaman will be there in the start of the Ulan-Ude edition as well. The Kazakh girls achieved one silver and one bronze medals in the last edition of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in New Delhi.
Mr. Vadim Pryssiazhniuk selected 10-strong team to Ulan-Ude which line-ups contains experienced boxers and medal hopefuls. The Kazakh team attended in the Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships with successes and increased their experiences in various international tournaments to show top form in Ulan-Ude.
AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Alua Balkybekova replaced Aigerim Kasenayeva in the national team at the light flyweight (48kg) but she has got experiences in the international stage since 2013. The 23-year-old boxer has got more than 120 bouts already and she is among the medal favourites in Ulan-Ude.
Nazym Kyzaibay won the title of the light flyweight (48kg) in the 2014 Jeju and in the 2016 Astana editions but since the new Olympic era approached, she moved up to the flyweight (51kg) where she has been trying to use her speed. Her teammate Dina Zholaman was also AIBA Women’s World Champion in 2016 as Kyzaibay and the bantamweight (54kg) boxer is among the favourites again.
Aizhan Khodzhabekova earned bronze medal in the Astana 2016 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships at the age of 20 and returned to the featherweight (57kg) which was her best decision this year. Rimma Volosenko, who replaced Karina Ibragimova, was unsuccessful with the big events during her career but she claimed several international tournament titles in the recent three years which makes her medal contender at the lightweight (60kg).
National Champion Milana Safronova attended in the last edition of the New Delhi 2018 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships and kept her place in the national team at the light welterweight (64kg). Rio 2016 Olympic Games bronze medallist 31-year-old Dariga Shakimova moved back to the welterweight (69kg) which is more fit to her height and aiming for a medal again.
Akerke Bakhytzhan was also debutant at the New Delhi 2018 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships as Safronova and prepares to her second global event at the middleweight (75kg). Fariza Sholtay will be Kazakhstan’s light heavyweight (81kg) boxer again while their veteran AIBA Women’s World Champion Lazzat Kungeibayeva was replaced by AIBA Women’s Youth World Champion 19-year-old Dina Islambekova in the heaviest division.
