Asian champs Tamanna, Ravina, Muskan shine in Indian youth women joust

Reigning Asian youth champions Tamanna, Ravina and Muskan flaunted their prowess to emerge atop their respective divisions in the 5th Indian Youth Women National  Boxing Championships held in Chennai.

Tamanna, who copped the light flyweight (50kg) title in the ASBC Asian Youth Championships 2022 held in Amman, Jordan last March, came through with a convincing 5-0 victory over Kashish in the finals.

Ravina routed Melody, 5-0, to cap off her title run in the light welterweight (63kg) division while Muskan finished her dominant campaign with a 5-0 beatdown of Sharvari Kalyankar in the middleweight (75kg) class.

Asian silver winners Priyanka (welter-66kg) and Kirti (heavy-+81kg) as well as bronze finisher Pranjal Yadav (light heavy-81kg) also seized golds in the national tournament.

A total of 228 boxers joined the competition which served as one of the Boxing Federation of India’s selections for the upcoming IBA Youth World Championships 2022 set in November in Alicante, Spain.

Powered by the Asian medalists, Haryana lorded over the team standings with eight golds and three silvers.
