ASBC President Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira and the ASBC management send their sympathies to the Afghanistan Boxing Federation

The President of the Asian Boxing Confederation Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira of Thailand and the whole ASBC management send their sympathies to the people of Afghanistan and the Afghanistan Boxing Federation following 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit the city of Herat and its northwest region.

Herat is the fourth biggest city in Afghanistan and the earthquake caused the death of more than 2,400 people in the area. Around 10,000 people had been injured during the earthquake but many of the locals are still under the rubble according to the Afghan and international news agencies.

The military and non-profit organizations are helping the population of the region with rescue efforts. More than 1,300 homes were collapsed during the earthquake and the eight strong aftershocks. The telephone connections are unstable in the region yet and the healthcare system received supports from international organizations.

The Afghanistan Boxing Federation hosted several National Championships for various age groups in 2023 despite of their hard situation in the country. Afghanistan arranged its Hameedi Memorial Tournament and the nation sent three boxers to the Asian Games to Hangzhou as well.
