Eighteen boxers will represent Iran at the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships

As Japan, Iran will also send 18 boxers to the forthcoming ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships to Astana, Kazakhstan. The Iranians registered nine junior and also nine youth boxers to the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships which will be starting with its first competition day on October 23.

Reza Mahdipour is the head coach of the youth national team who will be supported by a former star boxer Morteza Sepahvandi, Iman Tayebi and Morteza Khafaei in Astana. The previous Asian Champion boxer, Akbar Ahadi is the head coach of the Iranian junior national team who has four assistant coaches.

Iran competed in all of the recent editions of the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in 2021 and in 2022. The Iranians earned medals in both of the huge championships in the United Arab Emirates and in Jordan as well.

The Iranians arranged national competitions and selection tournaments for their elite, youth, junior and schoolboys this year, the country was very active in boxing. The junior national selection event took place in the city of Qom, 140km south of Tehran.

The top boxers of the junior national event such as Saro Kasnazani (57kg), Mohammad Mesbahi Roozbahani (66kg), Mahan Sajedi Jablou (70kg), and Abdolrahman Dara (75kg) all will be there in Astana.

The Iranian Youth National Championships was held in the city of Khorramabad in the Lorestan province on May 2023. Thirteen boxers bagged their titles in the national event and among them nine will be there in the upcoming ASBC Asian Championships. Their Pourya Esmaeili Godarzi was the only boxer who could able to defend his throne in Khorramabad but he will miss the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships.

Mehdi Kazemi (51kg), Reza Fazli Sani (57kg), Hamed Amirzadeh (60kg), Seyed Ali Akbar Mirahmadi (63.5kg), Sam Estaki (75kg) and Amir Esmaeili Vandaei (+92kg) are all experienced talents in their youth national team.
