ASBC President Mr. Anas Alotaiba and the whole ASBC management are sending their sincere condolences to Mr. Terry Smith’s family

The President of the Asian Boxing Confederation and Vice-President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Mr. Anas Alotaiba, furthermore and the whole ASBC management are sending their sincere condolences to the Welsh boxing official Mr. Terry Smith’s family who passed away after an extended illness yesterday.

Mr. Terry Smith, a native of England, was born in Northern Ireland’s capital in Belfast in 1944 and began boxing at the age of 10 with his coach father. He dedicated his whole life more than six decades to our beloved sport and hold several different positions in the international boxing.

He worked as President in the Welsh Amateur Boxing Association and a referee and judge but later he had several key positions in the world’s governing body. He was member of the European Boxing Council, AIBA Executive Committee member, Referee & Judge Instructor, Technical Delegate and Supervisor, Chairman of the R&J Commissions.

He had a major rule bringing the AIBA World Boxing Championships to Belfast in 2001 which was the opening big event of the Athens Olympic cycle. Mr. Terry Smith worked also as Technical Delegate in several Asian boxing competitions during his active career.

May his soul will rest in eternal peace in his homeland.
