Stars as Murodov, Yokubov and Soliyev were the heroes at the Tajikistan Junior National Championships

The male finals were held in the new edition of the Tajikistan Junior National Championships in Dushanbe where fifteen champions have been crowned. Tajikistan’s two best junior boxers such as ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships silver medallist Abubakr Murodov and ASBC Asian Junior Champion Abdurakhim Yokubov dominated their categories.

Altogether 107 boxers competed in the Junior National Championships following the regional selections. Boxers who were born in 2004 and in 2005 were eligible to attend in the upcoming Tajikistan Junior National Championships from all regions of the country and for both genders. Besides to the thirteen official categories, from the pinweight (46kg) up to the heavyweight (+80kg), the 42kg and the 44kg weight classes have been also added to the program of the Tajikistan Junior National Championships.

Tajikistan hosted its Elite National Boxing Championships in April, then the Schoolboys National Boxing Championships in September and the Youth National Championships in the recent weeks. Their Junior National Championships closed the year of 2020 when Tajikistan Boxing Federation could host all of their national events in spite of the difficult situations.

Dushanbe’s Murodali Nazarov claimed the first gold medal at the Tajikistan Junior National Championships where he defeated Ulmas Usarov in the final of the 42kg weight category. The next title was achieved by Aslamjon Kurbonov who had tough but successful challenges against ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships competitor Alisher Saidov and Shakhrom Khakimov.

Dushanbe’s Rakhmatullo Khabibuloi had strong experiences from the previous events therefore he has done enough to beat Aminjon Safarov in the final of the pinweight (46kg). Last year’s silver medallist Abubakr Bobojonov controlled all of his three contests at the light flyweight (48kg) including his final against Sulaymon Kodirov while one of the favourites Schoolboys National Champion Biloliddin Gavasov achieved only bronze medal.

Sughd region’s ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships competitor Jafar Rakhmonov had excellent successes during his road to the final of the flyweight (50kg) but he had to do his very best against Buzurgmekhr Iksanov to take the title. Firdavs Sharipov began his campaign with a RSC success but Adkham Usmonov was a hard challenge for him in the final of the light bantamweight (52kg). The final verdict was split decision in the favour of Sharipov who proved his talent in the national event.

Sughd region’s ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships competitor Bakhovaddin Soliyev has got international experiences from 2019 and he proved impressive developments in the Junior National Championships. Following his two outstanding successes, he met in the final with Khatlon’s 16-year-old Makhmud Boboyev who eliminated ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships bronze medallist Shakhboz Dadajonov in the semi-finals. Soliyev turned up the heat in the final of the bantamweight (54kg) and claimed his junior national title with top performance.

Khatlon’s Abubakr Murodov is one of Tajikistan’s top talent in the age group who turned to 16 only a few weeks ago. He amazed in Fujairah one year ago where he claimed silver medal in the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships. Murodov moved up to the featherweight (57kg) but he controlled all of his three contests including the final against the defending champion, Olim Orifzoda of Sughd region.

Sughd region’s Abdurakhim Yokubov won the gold medal at the bantamweight (54kg) in the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships which was his career highlight but he suffered an unexpected loss in the 2019 national final against Doston Dodov. Yokubov’s new category is the lightweight (60kg) and he amazed with his strength beating all of his rivals by RSC in the Junior National Championships.

Dushanbe’s next gold medal was achieved by Saddam Davlatov who defeated Iskandar Toirzoda in the final of the light welterweight (63kg). Khatlon’s Sirodjiddin Khodjiboboyev defeated Sughd region’s Ashurbek Chiyanov in the final of the welterweight (66kg) by unanimous decision. Nurlanbek Ermatov won the next title in the event proving his skills in the final against Dushanbe’s Olim Olimov.

Dushanbe’s Sipekhr Saidov won two out of his three contests by RSC including his middleweight (75kg) final over Sheroz Mallayev. Dushanbe’s Fabriz Buriyev achieved the title of the light heavyweight (80kg) in the Junior National Championships. Dushanbe’s next top hope Samandar Akhmedov, who achieved silver medal in the 2019 Junior National Championships, worked well to beat all of his opponents as the most valuable boxer of the heavyweight (+80kg).
