Ahmad Gul Ahmadi, Farzad Shahid Temori, Ahmad Jan Sadiq and Rahman Hussain Shahidi were the best boxers at the Shaheed Hameedullah Hameedi Memorial Tournament

The Shaheed Hameedullah Hameedi Memorial Tournament was the first major event after the quarantine period which was hosted by the Afghanistan Boxing Federation. Ahmad Gul Ahmadi, Farzad Shahid Temori from the Hameedi Boxing Club, Rahman Hussain Shahidi and Ahmad Jan Sadiq were the best boxers in the 2nd Shaheed Hameedullah Hameedi Memorial Tournament in Kabul.

The first edition of the Shaheed Hameedullah Hameedi Memorial Tournament was held in October 2019 one year ago. The competition was named by Mr. Shaheed Hameedullah Hameedi the former Secretary General of the Afghanistan Boxing Federation who has been killed in Kabul when he went to work to his office at the weekend. President of the Afghanistan Boxing Federation Mr. Abdullah Sattari followed all bouts in the event.

Kabul was the host of the event as in the first edition and welcomed the participants from all regions of the country. Finally, 14 regional associations and two provinces attended in the 2nd edition of the Shaheed Hameedullah Hameedi Memorial Tournament in Kabul.  Altogether 120 elite male boxers competed for the medals in the Shaheed Hameedullah Hameedi Memorial Tournament.

The first gold medal of the competition was achieved by Ahmad Shah Noori who defeated Khalid Ahmadi in the final of the light flyweight (49kg) which was a new additional category in the event. Ahmad Gul Ahmadi was in top form by the time of the event and demonstrated his technique against Salim Khan in the final of the flyweight (52kg).

Following Mr. Shaheed Hameedullah Hameedi’s unexpected death, his boxing club turned up the speed in the preparations and their boxers were highly motivated on his memorial event. Hameedi Boxing Club’s Farzad Shahid Temori was too strong for Roman Sadat in the final of the featherweight (57kg). Rahman Hussain Shahidi proved strong potential at the lightweight (63kg) after his impressive performance against Mohammad Jan in the final.

Alokozy Wafa won the 2018 Kabul City Boxing Championships and returned to the national events in top shape. He was enough prepared and skilled to beat Merza Ahmad Haidar in the final of the welterweight (69kg). Ahmad Jan Sadiq had a clear dominancy at the middleweight (75kg) in the event and overwhelmed Sayed Shah in the final.

Ahmad Nesar moved down to the light heavyweight (81kg) but he was enough strong to beat Mureed Ahmad in the final. Sultan Said Amiri achieved the gold medal at the heavyweight (91kg) after beating Hameedullah Omid in the final. The ninth title of the national event was captured by Gul Rahman Rahmani at the super heavyweight (+91kg).
