Teenagers as Muydinkhodjayev, Yuldashev and Kayimov all advanced to the semi-finals of the Zolotarev Memorial Tournament

The Valentin Zolotarev Memorial Tournament is Uzbekistan’s first event since March which is holding for their elite male boxers. Many of the young Uzbek hopes who claimed titles in ASBC events such as Asadkhudja Muydinkhodjayev, Javlonbek Yuldashev, Sukhrobjon Kayimov and Lazizbek Mullajanov are all in the semi-finals of the event.

The Valentin Zolotarev Memorial Tournament is a traditional elite competition in Uzbekistan and always holds in the city of Andizhan which is located in the Ferghana Valley. The last 2019 edition of the Zolotarev Memorial Tournament was an international event but due to the Covid-19 pandemic the new competition is national level.

The city of Andizhan is famous of its boxing schools, many of the Uzbek stars started their careers in those gyms and clubs. Altogether 139 elite male boxers are attending in the new edition of the Valentin Zolotarev Memorial Tournament in Andizhan where 10 champions will be crowned from the light flyweight (49kg) up to the super heavyweight (+91kg).

Shakhzod Muzaffarov won the gold medal at the light flyweight (49kg) in the 2019 Pavlyukov Youth Memorial Tournament and the 18-year-old talent is one of the stars of the flyweight (52kg) in Andizhan. He will be meeting in the semi-finals with Tashkent region’s Doston Khodjayev in the Zolotarev Memorial Tournament.

Samandar Kholmurodov was gold medallist at the Bangkok 2017 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships and advanced to the semi-finals of the bantamweight (56kg) in Andizhan. The 20-year-old talent will be meeting with Ilkhom Ismoilov in the semi-finals but ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships Khurshid Rasuljonov is also still in the competition.

Aydos Tagaybayev is a teenage talent at the lightweight (60kg) but he won already two contests in the Zolotarev Memorial Tournament where he will be facing with Temurbek Dekhkonov in the last four. The light welterweight (64kg) is one of the strongest category in the event where 19-year-old star Asadkhudja Muydinkhodjayev, Murodjon Aliyev, ASBC Asian Junior Champion Halimbek Utegenov and Mujibullo Tursunov are in the last four.

ASBC Asian Junior Champion Javlonbek Yuldashev moved up to the welterweight (69kg) but he impressed in Andizhan and advanced to the last four in the event. The key boxers of the middleweight (75kg) as Saidjamshid Jafarov, Temurbek Sadullayev and Abdulaziz Abdupattayev are the remaining hopes in the semi-finals. ASBC Asian Youth Champion Sukhrobjon Kayimov has done his debut at the light heavyweight (81kg) and the 19-year-old boxer eliminated Shakhzod Normatov in the quarter-finals. Bangkok 2017 ASBC Asian Youth Champion Lazizbek Mullajanov is a top super heavyweight (+91kg) boxer who is the favourite of the weight class.
