Abduvaliev, Imamnazarov and Cavallaro shined in the quarter-finals of the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament

The second part of the quarter-finals were held in the 20th anniversary edition of the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament in Kostanay, North Kazakhstan. Uzbekistan’s Dilshod Abduvaliev, Kyrgyzstan’s Mirzokhid Imamnazarov and Italy’s Salvatore Cavallaro were the heroes of Day3 when only the guaranteed medallists remained in the competition.
The Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament is an important preparation event before the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships which is scheduled to be held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia this November. Altogether 105 boxers have been there in the general weigh-in and will be boxing for the medals and prizes.
This strong men’s youth competition was named by Ural and Korgan Aitenov. Kostanay is located in the Northern part of Kazakhstan and has been hosting the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament in the recent 19 years. Boxers who were born in 2001 or in 2002 are eligible to attend in the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament in Kostanay.
The men’s event is holding in ten different weight categories: light flyweight (49kg), flyweight (52kg), bantamweight (56kg), lightweight (60kg), light welterweight (64kg), welterweight (69kg), middleweight (75kg), light heavyweight (81kg), heavyweight (91kg) and super heavyweight (+91kg).

Uzbekistan’s Dilshod Abduvaliev impressed at the light flyweight (49kg)
The boxers of the light flyweight (49kg) started their campaign in the second competition day and their quarter-final contests were held on Day3. Uzbekistan’s favourite Dilshod Abduvaliev is aiming for a place in their top youth team and arrived to the venue of the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament in best shape. The 17-year-old Uzbek dominated his fight against Kazakhstan’s Asilbek Tastulek and advanced to the semi-finals in Kostanay. A local boxer Damir Manaubayev lives and trains in Kostanay and following his opening success over Nur-Sultan’s Alikey Seylbek on Day2, he bowed out Kyrgyzstan’s Anvar Khodjayev in a narrow fight.

Kazakhstan’s Nurbolat Bekbauov won his second tight contests in Kostanay
Aktau-based Nurbolat Bekbauov defeated Uzbekistan’s Shakhboz Yunusaliev by split decision on the second competition day and he had another challenging fight on Day3. The 17-year-old Kazakh boxer had to do his very best to eliminated Almaty region’s Miras Kanabek which was another 3-2 success for Bekbauov. Nur-Sultan’s Amirbek Toksanbayev, Shymkent’s Zhanaris Orinbay, and Taraz’s Serzhan Kadirbayev also advanced to the last four of the bantamweight (56kg) in Kostanay.

Kyrgyzstan’s Mirzokhid Imamnazarov is a favourite at the lightweight (60kg)
The lightweight (60kg) is another tough category in the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament where a new sensation from Kyrgyzstan proved the best performance in the quarter-final stage. Mirzokhid Imamnazarov claimed an unexpected bronze medal in the world’s most difficult youth competition at the Pavlyukov Memorial Tournament in Russia this April and following that success, he proved his strength in Kostanay as well. The 17-year-old Kyrgyz boxer thrashed Pavlodar’s experienced Dmitriy Barmin and advanced to the last four in the event. Italy’s Massimo Emanuele Santini, Nur-Sultan’s Batyrkhan Kuandyk and Aktau’s Beket Kozhabekov are also semi-finalists in this weight class.

Italy’s Salvatore Cavallaro dominated his quarter-final at the welterweight (69kg)
The Italian team is attending at the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament at the very first time in the history of the event. Following EUBC European Junior Champion Michele Baldassi shined in the second competition day, their welterweight (69kg) No.1 Salvatore Cavallaro also delivered sensational performance in the event. The Italian boxer controlled the first and second rounds against Pavlodar’s Adilbek Serik therefore his opponent’s ringside abandoned their fight in the last period. Russia’s Nikita Nikitin delivered the first KO of the tournament following his tough combinations against Kuandyk Toganbay.
