Abdumalik Boltayev and Ramoil Kurbonov impressed in the Tajikistan Youth National Championships

The Tajikistan Youth National Championships was held in the recent days and their experienced future hopes all shined in the event. Their two best youth boxers as Abdumalik Boltayev and Ramoil Kurbonov dominated the welterweight (69kg) and the middleweight (75kg) proving tough performance before the start of the Ulaanbaatar ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships.

Boxers who were born in 2001 and in 2002 were eligible to attend in the Tajikistan Youth National Championships from the light flyweight (49kg) up to the super heavyweight (+91kg). The Tajikistan Youth National Championships was the final selection event for the upcoming ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships which will be starting in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on November 9.

The first gold medal was achieved by 17-year-old Sorbon Karimov of Khatlon region who defeated Abdulojon Umedjoni of Dushanbe in the final of the light flyweight (49kg). Karimov was selected to attend in the upcoming Ulaanbaatar ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships who will be able to compete in the youth age group in 2020 as well.

Another first timer in the youth age group, Khusravkhon Rakhimov of Sughd region had a tough bout in the semi-finals against Sher Abbosi but he had the stamina to beat his rival. The 17-year-old Rakhimov has done better performance in the final of the flyweight (52kg) and controlled all rounds against Emomali Rakhmon of Khatlon region.

Voris Makhmudov won the gold medal at the Dushanbe City Youth Boxing Championships just before the start of the Youth National Championships. The 17-year-old Dushanbe-based boxer eliminated Mukhammadnabi Zokhirov in the quarter-final unanimously but after that success he won both of his fights by RSC against Azamat Sharifi and Makhmadi Abubakri claiming the gold at the bantamweight (56kg).

Mekhrob Khomidov missed his regional selection tournament but he prepared well to the Youth National Championships. He defeated his main rival Kirom Mashrabov first and after controlled all of his contests to get the title of the lightweight (60kg). Khatlon’s Shamsher Saidov had also four fights in the nationals and won all of them with tough performance including the final against Bekhruz Karimov.

Abdumalik Boltayev is one of the most experienced Tajik youth boxers who won several international tournaments in the recent two years mainly in the Central Asian region. The 18-year-old welterweight (69kg) boxer stopped all of his opponents in the national event winning the final easily against Firdavs Rakhimov.

Besides to Boltayev, Ramoil Kurbonov is the next big future hope for Tajikistan who have got already strong international results from Uzbek, Kyrgyz and Kazakh tournaments. The 18-year-old boxer dominated his three fights in the national event where he defeated Muboraksho Kambari in the final of the middleweight (75kg).

Mukhammad Khotamov of Sughd region became the best at the light heavyweight (81kg) and defeated his teammate Mukim Ergashev in the final. Fuzaili Kushbakov won the title of the Dushanbe City Youth Boxing Championships and repeated that performance in the Nationals beating Alisher Atabayev in the final of the heavyweight (91kg). The last title of the event was taken by Dushanbe City Youth Champion Sorbon Rakhmatov at the super heavyweight (+91kg) following his success over Bakhman Rasulov.
