The Bekzat Sattarkhanov Youth Memorial Tournament has been postponed as all activities is stopped in Kazakhstan until April 15

According to the officials of the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation all activities have been stopped in the Central Asian boxing power until April 15 due to the spread of the Covid-19 Coronavirus. The decision is affected the 19th edition of the Bekzat Sattarkhanov Youth Memorial Tournament which is scheduled to be held for the youth men boxers in Turkestan, Kazakhstan from March 30 until April 5.

The competition was named after Kazakhstan’s Sydney 2000 Olympic Champion Bekzat Sattarkhanov who died in a car accident at the age of 20 a few months later than taking the gold medal in Australia. Kazakhstan’s historical city, Turkestan is part of the UNESCO World Heritage and located in South Kazakhstan near to the Uzbek border. Boxers who were born in 2002 and in 2003 should have been eligible to attend in the Bekzat Sattarkhanov Youth Memorial Tournament in Turkestan. The city of Turkestan is planning also to host the Abdusalam Nurmakhanov International Elite Boxing Tournament on April 15-20 which depends on the situation of the upcoming weeks.
