Tulaganov and Shakhbozov defended their titles in the Uzbekistan Schoolboys National Championships

Following the Chyrchyk International Boxing Tournament, the Schoolboys National Championships was the next competition in Uzbekistan before all competitions have been postponed. Uzbekistan’s two top schoolboy talents Farrukh Tulaganov and Jafarbek Shakhbozov both claimed gold medals in the National Championships.

Angren was the host of the Uzbekistan Schoolboys National Championships which city locates in the Eastern part of the country 110km far from Tashkent. Boxers who were born in 2006 or in 2007 were eligible to attend in the Uzbekistan Schoolboys National Championships in Angren.

Altogether 390 boxers competed in the Uzbekistan Schoolboys National Championships where 15 champions celebrated their gold medals in Angren. The 40kg and the 43kg weight classes were the most crowded categories in Angren where 48-48 boxers attended for the medals in these divisions.

Uzbekistan amazed in the Kuwait City 2019 ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships where the country claimed 10 gold medals out of the available 14. The Uzbekistan Schoolboys National Championships was the first selection for them before the 2020 ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships.

The first title of the event was won by Tashkent’s Abdurakhmon Makhmudjonov who defeated Sayliddin Sobirov in the final of the 33kg weight class. Andizhan’s first title in the national event was taken by Firdavs Ibrokhimjonov who was too strong for Kashkadarya’s Kuvonch Egamberdiyev at the 35kg weight class which will be the smallest official division in the program of the 2020 ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships.

Tashkent’s 2019 Schoolboys National Championships bronze medallist Nodirbek Allabergenov had a tough final against Tashkent region’s Ilkhom Ergashev but he was able to manage his success at the 37kg weight class. Bukhara has got strong boxing schools and their Aziz Yodgorov defeated his fellow Mukhammadamin Kodirov who arrived to Angren from the same historical city.

Tashkent region’s Sunatullo Oktamaliyev walked over to the title of the 43kg weight class while the silver medal was earned by Sukhrobkhodja Ortikov. Andizhan’s second gold medal in the Schoolboys National Championships was taken by Abdulkhamid Azimov who defeated Tashkent region’s Mirzakamron Yunusov in the final of the 46kg weight class.

Uzbekistan’s top talent in this age group Farrukh Tulaganov will be turning to 14 this year but he is already such a decorated athlete in boxing. He won the 2019 Uzbekistan Schoolboys National Championships and the Kuwait City ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships at the 40kg weight class. Tulaganov stopped Andizhan’s Aadbek Solijonov in the final of his new weight division which is the 48kg now.

Following Andizhan’s Mukhammadaziz Ismoilov’s success at the 52kg weight class, Jafarbek Shakhbozov impressed in the next final at the 55kg. He claimed gold medal in the 2019 edition of the Uzbekistan Schoolboys National Championships at the 48kg weight class and repeated that performance in Angren where he had a clean success over Karakalpakstan’s Bakhodir Abdimuratov.

Andizhan’s Halimbek Mamasoliyev had a tough final fight against Abdulaziz Khonnazarov but he was able to manage his success by split decision. Bukhara’s Sherbek Shokirov had also a narrow final in Angren where he had a great finish to beat Ferghana’s Doston Rafikov. Andizhan’s Temurbek Abduvakhobov had four successes at the 64kg weight class and among them three were by RSC.

Javokhir Sherbekov had to beat three opponents in the Uzbekistan Schoolboys National Championships in Angren where he had a close final over Bukhara’s Abdurakhmon Asadov. Tashkent region’s Aziz Sagdullayev had two RSC successes during his road to the final of the 70kg where he had a strong fight over Khorezm’s Islombek Khudorganov. The fifteenth gold medal of the Uzbekistan Schoolboys National Championships was achieved by Dzhizak’s Asilbek Ishmurodov.
