Mr. Smith and Mr. Caulfield led the AIBA 3-stars R&J Course during the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament

The Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament was not only one of the most important elite competitions in the month of July but an AIBA 3-stars Refereeing & Judging Course was also held in Bangkok during the bouts. Three Confederations and more than 20 National Federations sent applicants to the Course to Bangkok.
Experienced officials as Mr. Terry Smith of Wales and Mr. Andrew Caulfield of Scotland were the Instructors of the AIBA 3-star Referee & Judge Course in the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament in Bangkok. Both European neutral officials led several previous courses in the Asian continent for all levels of Referees & Judges in the past.
Altogether 24 applicants attended from Australia, Belgium, China, Croatia, DPR Korea, France, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Latvia, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan in the educational program in Bangkok where six women and eight men boxers have been crowned in the competition.
The participants of the AIBA 3-star Referee & Judge Course had one-day long theoretical and practical lessons during the educational program. The practical part of the Course and their examination was the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament itself.
Current certified and active AIBA 2-star R&Js who certified for at least 12 months or current AIBA 3-star R&Js who are not active in the international level since 2012, were eligible to take part in the 3-star AIBA Refereeing & Judging Course in Thailand’s capital in Bangkok during the international open event.
The number of the boxers in the competition is altogether impressive 247 including 98 women from 32 different nations of all of the five Confederations. The best female boxer of the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament was named Anja Stridsman of Australia while Thailand’s 19-year-old Atichai Phoemsap selected as the Best Man Boxer of the event.
