Yerzhan Zhomart, Ikboljon Kholdarov and Sagadat Rakhmankulov are among the winners in the Abdaliyev Tournament in Shymkent

The 37th edition of the Karakozy Abdaliyev Tournament was held in Shymkent, Kazakhstan which is located in the South region of the huge country near to the Uzbek border. The competition was launched in 1979 and has got great traditions now not only in Kazakhstan but in the whole region as well.
Armenia, host Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan sent boxers to the strong international competition to Shymkent. Altogether 161 men boxers attended in the Abdaliyev Tournament in Shymkent and ten new champions have been crowned in the competition.
Kazakhstan’s new Light Flyweight class (49kg) star after AIBA World Champion Birzhan Zhakypov could be their WSB talent Yerzhan Zhomart who has been competing in the international level since 2011 and delivering even better results year by year. The 23-year-old boxer used aggressive tactic in the final of the Abdaliyev Tournament against Zhandos Nesipzhan and won his next title in 2016.
Madiyar Zhanuzak lives and trains in Astana who is also among Kazakhstan’s great prospects in the new Tokyo 2020 Olympic era. He had great youth results and after a few years among the elite boxers were enough for him to win the gold medal in such a big competition as the Abdaliyev Tournament. The 21-year-old talent defeated Kazakhstan’s experienced Anvar Muzaparov in the final of the weight class.
Kyrgyzstan’s new sensation Sirodjiddin Abdullaev won an important international tournament a few weeks ago and now he delivered the same top performance in Shymkent. The 21-year-old Bantamweight class (56kg) boxer eliminated Kazakhstan’s Alibek Tortayev in the semi-final and met with Dzhambul’s Zhanbolat Kydyrbayev who walked over to Incheon 2014 Asian Games winner Ilyas Suleimenov in the last four. The young Abdullaev defeated also his next rival in the final and his second title within a few weeks means he could be a great sensation in 2017.
At the Lightweight class (60kg) Kazakhstan’s new face Mirasali Sarsenov defeated all of his rivals in the Abdaliyev Tournament including experienced Rustam Rustamov in the final while Darkhan Zhumsakbayev of Astana was only bronze medallist this time. Uzbekistan’s AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Ikboljon Kholdarov dominated the Light Welterweight class (64kg) in Shymkent where he defeated Almaty’s Dilmurat Mizhitov in the final. Kholdarov’s strong teammate Ravshanbek Umurzakov claimed bronze medal in Shymkent.
Dzhambul’s two prides advanced to the finals of the Welterweight class (69kg), Sagadat Rakhmankulov and WSB hero of Astana Arlans Kazakhstan, Aslan Shymbergenov. Their contest was one of the best in the competition and finally Rakhmankulov’s hand was raised after the final bell. The gold medal of the Middleweight class (75kg) was achieved by Zhasulan Omar who triumphed over Almazbek Oryngaliyev in the final.
Kazakhstan’s promising boxer Almas Tashimbet had a big final battle against Tajikistan’s ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships silver medallist 19-year-old Shabbos Negmatulloev who eliminated Nurdaulet Zharmanov in the semi-final of the Light Heavyweight class (81kg). The young Tajik moved up one weight class in the recent weeks and in spite of his narrow loss to Tashimbet in the final, he proved his great talent in Shymkent.
Kazakhstan’s next gold medal was achieved by Nurlan Nurseitov at the Heavyweight class (91kg) who defeated former ASBC Asian Youth Champion Adilet Orynbasarov in the ninth final of the Abdaliyev Tournament. The last title of the competition was taken by Nurlan Saparbay who had a surprise triumph over Rakhman Alzhanov while Mongolia’s national team member Tolek Erbolat claimed bronze medal.
