Voris Makhmudov won the best male final bout at the Tajikistan Youth National Championships

The exciting ten male finals were held at the Tajikistan Youth National Championships in the city of Kulob where the younger age group proved its strong potential. Two Youth National Champions as Voris Makhmudov and Khusravkhon Rakhimov boxed for the gold of the bantamweight (56kg) in the bout of the finals. Iskandarbek Rustamov and Dovud Makhkamov won their weight categories confidently in Kulob.

The new edition of the Tajikistan Youth National Championships for their male and female was a four-days long competition in Kulob. Record number of 51 female boxers attended in the national event where the number of the male athletes was 76. Boxers who were born in 2002 and in 2003 were eligible to attend in the Tajikistan Youth National Championships from all regions of the country.

Tajikistan Boxing Federation was held a National Referee & Judge Course before the start of the Tajikistan Youth National Championships in Kulob. Experienced international R&Js as Mr. Mansur Mukhiddinov and Mr. Akmal Abdullaev were the instructors of their educational project in Kulob.

Dushanbe’s Mekhrob Khamidov was Youth National Champion in 2019 and moved down to the light flyweight (49kg) in the recent months. The 18-year-old boxer eliminated Alisher Mirzokhonov in the semi-finals but he suffered a surprise RSC loss to Junior National Championships silver medallist Akbarali Abdurakhmonzoda.  

Sughd region’s Junior National Champion Iskandarbek Rustamov was silver medallist at the Galib Dzhafarov Prizes Junior Tournament in 2019 and competed at the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships in Fujairah. The 17-year-old Tajik talent captured the gold of the flyweight (52kg) and defeated Zabirsho Nurmatov in the final.

Dushanbe’s defending Youth National Champion Voris Makhmudov could be Tajikistan’s next powerful elite boxers at the bantamweight (56kg) in the upcoming years. He met with another Youth National Champion, Khusravkhon Rakhimov in the final but his energetic style was enough to beat his top opponent in the bout of the day.

Yusuf Rustamjoni won national events already in 2017 therefore he was too strong in the final of the lightweight (60kg) for Sughd region’s Azimjon Doniyorov who was bronze medallist in the 2019 Tajikistan Junior National Championships. Sughd region’s Dovud Makhkamov has got strong international experiences and dominated the light welterweight (64kg) in Kulob including his final against Sarvar Yusupov.

Dushanbe’s Junior National Championships silver medallist 17-year-old Fayzali Gulomov caused the main sensation of the semi-finals of the Tajikistan Youth National Championships when he defeated Sughd region’s Junior National Champion Doston Dodov. His final opponent at the welterweight (69kg) was Usmonjon Kayumov and he managed to win that next battle in Kulob.  

Durandesh Zubaydov was gold medallist at the middleweight (75kg) in the 2019 Tajikistan Junior National Championships but he had two tough contests during his road to the final against Akhadjon Sharipov and Shakhboz Khaitov. The 17-year-old boxer controlled his final against Dushanbe’s last year’s bronze medallist one-year older Eradj Rakhmatulloev.

Nurmukhammad Ashurov won all of his contests by RSC at the light heavyweight (81kg) including his final against Sadi Rustamov. Sughd region’s Mukhammadziyo Khotamov impressed at the heavyweight (91kg) and controlled all of his contests in Kulob. Bakhman Rasulov claimed silver medal in the last edition of the Tajikistan Youth National Championships which he changed into gold following his success over Shakhzod Nosirov at the super heavyweight (+91kg).
