Veteran former Asian Champion Jakhon Qurbonov won his next title in the Tajikistan National Championships

The Tajikistan National Boxing Championships was held in Khudjand which is located in the northern part of the country and the second biggest city in Tajikistan. Their young woman talent Madina Gaforova impressed in the competition in Khudjand where experienced Navruz Jafoev and two-time Olympian Jakhon Qurbonov also won the gold medals.
The event was held for both genders in Khudjand, the women athletes could fight in four categories while the men boxers in ten divisions. The Tajikistan National Championships was also a preparation and selection event for the upcoming main goals as the Asian Games which will be holding in Indonesia in August.
The first gold medal was achieved by Madina Gaforova who defeated her Chinese rival in her debuting contest at the Guwahati 2017 AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships which was a sensation in India last November. The 19-year-old flyweight (51kg) boxer lost to Rukhafzo Khaknazarova in the Dushanbe City Championships a few weeks ago but she was able to do a revenge for that loss.
A relatively new woman boxer Saykhomuddin Khusnoroi eliminated Burkhon Layloi in the semi-final of the featherweight (57kg) and continued her winning path against Yosumin Abdurakhmonova in the final of the event. Khusnoroi did her very best in the event and celebrated her first national title in Tajikistan.
ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships bronze medallist Shoira Zulkaynarova is member of the national team since 2014 therefore her success over Farzona Mamadjonova was an expected success at the lightweight (60kg). Nilufar Boboyorova eliminated her main rival Mizhgona Boboyeva in the semi-final which was a repeat match and she did enough against Nodira Karimova in the final of the middleweight (75kg).
Izzatullo Aliyev won the Dushanbe City Championships a few weeks ago and arrived to the Tajikistan National Championships in top form which meant the first gold medal of the men part of the event went to him. Sunatullo Yunuszoda has put himself into the spotlight in 2015 and since then his development is continuous which the 19-year-old flyweight (52kg) talent proved against Bakhodur Mirzoaliyev in the final.
Bakhtovar Sagizov competed at the Tashkent 2017 ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships and won his key final against such strong opponent as AIBA Junior World Champion Asror Vohidov at the bantamweight (56kg). The gold medal of the lightweight (60kg) was taken by Bilol Kholov who defeated the experienced favourite, Tashkent 2017 ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships competitor Odilkhon Furkatjoni.
Bakhodur Usmonov claimed silver medal in the 2013 ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships and proved top quality of boxing in the recent five years therefore he could control his final against Amirjon Nazarov in Khudjand. Shokhrukh Ogonazarov moved up to the welterweight (69kg) in the recent months and his decision paid off in Khudjand where he defeated all of his rivals by RSC including Edgorali Shorakhimov in the final.
Mirzomukhammed Bakhtiyar joined to the international competitions in 2010 and used all of his experiences to beat Aziz Fayzov in the final of the middleweight (75kg). Two giants had to meet in the final of the light heavyweight (81kg) where Amman 2013 ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships silver medallist Navruz Jafoev was able to beat AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Akhmadjon Saidov in the bout of the men’s competition.
Jakhon Qurbonov won his Asian title in 2005 and qualified for two Olympic Games but he is still in the business with tough punches which were enough to beat Bakhodur Boboyev in the final of the heavyweight (91kg). Singapore 2010 Youth Olympian Siyovush Zukhurov is a tough super heavyweight (+91kg) boxer who demonstrated his power against a former youth national team member youngster Daler Suleymanov.
