Veron and Jangra led Ne Rhinos to beat the Odisha Warriors in the ninth day of the Big Bout Indian Boxing League

The ninth day of boxing was held in the Indian Big Bout Boxing League between the Odisha Warriors and the Ne Rhinos. The Odisha Warriors were not able to manage top results yet but their franchise was near to beat one of the bests, the Ne Rhinos. Following Mandeep Jangra’s and Francisco Veron’s performances, the Ne Rhinos captured the triumph.

Big Bout is the official name of the Indian Boxing League which is a new program of the Boxing Federation of India which will be closing the busy year of 2019. Boxing Federation of India covered all costs for the boxers including flight tickets, accommodation, meals and local transportation, furthermore strong money prizes for the boxers. The competition period of the League is from December 2 until December 21 which is open for top foreign boxers as well.  

Pwilao Basumatary claimed the gold medal in the last edition of the Indian Women’s Elite National Championships but this time she boxed at the lightweight (60kg) and had a tough fight against Sandhya Rani of Odisha. Ne’s second success was achieved by Laldin Mawia who had disadvantage after the first round against Uzbekistan’s AIBA World Boxing Championships silver medallist Jasurbek Latipov but the Central Asian was disqualified in the second period.

Mandeep Jangra became one of the heroes of the match who defeated Uzbekistan’s Youth Olympic Games bronze medallist 19-year-old Jakhongir Rakhmonov in a hectic manly fight at the welterweight (69kg). Odisha’s triumphs in their dual match were delivered by Shiksha, Satender Singh and Mohamed Ibrahim who had a narrow success over WSB boxer Mohammed Etash Khan. Ne Rhinos’ key success was earned by their Argentinean hope, Francisco Veron who defeated Pramod Kumar at the middleweight (75kg) which decided their match.

Men’s 69kg: Mandeep Jangra (Ne) vs. Jakhongir Rakhmonov (Odisha, UZB) 3-2

Women’s 51kg: Shiksha (Odisha) vs. Meenakshi (Ne) 4-1

Men’s 75kg: Francisco Veron (Ne, ARG) vs. Pramod Kumar (Odisha) 5-0

Men’s 91kg: Satender Singh (Odisha) vs. Virender (Ne) 5-0

Men’s 57kg: Mohamed Ibrahim (Odisha) vs. Mohamed Etash Khan (Ne) 3-2
