Iran’s elite team defeated Turkey in a dual match following their joint training camp in Tehran

The Boxing Federation of Islamic Republic of Iran hosted a dual match in their capital city in Tehran which was a superb success for their squad. All of their top boxers including London 2012 Olympic Games quarter-finalist veteran Ehsan Rouzbahani, ASBC Asian Boxing Championships bronze medallists as Sajjad Kazemzadeh and Seyed Shahin Mousavi all won their tough fights in Tehran.

The Iranians welcomed the Turkish elite team for a joint training camp which was held in Tehran in the recent weeks. Following the training camp, a friendly dual match was held between the two neighbouring nations in Tehran. Both countries have been preparing to their Olympic Qualification Events which are the key factors for them. The dual match was held in the 8 Olympic weight classes from the flyweight (52kg) up to the super heavyweight (+91kg).

The first bout of the dual match was won by a young Iranian, Reza Soleimanifard who had a narrow success over Turkey’s Batuhan Ciftci at the flyweight (52kg). AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships quarter-finalist Daniyal Shakhbakhsh is only 19 but he had enough skills to beat Turkey’s six-year-older Hakan Dogan at the bantamweight (57kg).

Three-time National Champion Moslem Maghsoudi is a new sensation of the Iranian national team in 2019 who has done his first steps in the international stages but defeated more experienced rivals including Turkey’s AIBA Youth World Champion 20-year-old Tugrulhan Erdemir in the dual match.

Iran’s ASBC Asian Boxing Championships bronze medallist duo Sajjad Kazemzadeh and Seyed Shahin Mousavi both had tough Turkish rivals in Tehran. The 24-year-old Kazemzadeh had to beat Turkey’s Necat Ekinci who had strong youth results while Mousavi was slightly better than powerful Serhat Guler at the middleweight (75kg).

Iran’s new light heavyweight (81kg) boxer in the national team is Hossein Daneshvar who defeated Birol Aygun in the dual match. Iran’s London 2012 Olympic Games quarter-finalist Ehsan Rouzbahani returned to the team and controlled his fight over Berat Acar. Iran’s super heavyweight (+91kg) boxer Imad Ramezanpour, who is member of the national team since 2017, proved strong developments in the dual match.
