The tournament was named after him and the next competition will be the 43rd edition in Bishkek where several strong nations are taking part in Kyrgyzstan’s capital.

Kyrgyzstan’s No.1 Azat Usenaliev started his road with top performance in Bishkek
Kyrgyzstan’s Amman 2013 ASBC Asian Champion Azat Usenaliev claimed bronze medal at the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games but he is still hungry for the further successes. The 28-year-old boxer used his unpredictable footwork against Kazakhstan’s Akniyet Baltabayev and won their contest by unanimous decision at the flyweight (52kg). His teammates such as Mirlan Turkbay Uulu and Rustam Muratov won also their preliminary contests at the Shopokov Memorial Tournament.

Strong contests at the women’s featherweight (57kg) on Day2
Kazakhstan’s former National Champion Rano Parkhatova is trying to regain her place in the top squad and she was motivated against Uzbekistan’s teenage talent Khursandoy Kholmatova on Day2. Thailand’s Asian Games bronze medallist Nilawan Techasuep used her longer hands to keep the safest distance against Tajikistan’s Mizhgona Samadova whose aggressiveness was not enough to eliminate her Southeast Asian rival. Thailand’s AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships silver medallist and Rio 2016 Olympian Peamwilai Laopeam eliminated Kyrgyzstan’s newcomer in the national team Aygul Abduvakhit Kyzy on Day and continued her winning path against Mongolia’s 2012 ASBC Asian Women’s Champion Bolortuul Tumurkhuyag in a top bout.

Uzbekistan’s Youth Olympic Games winner Abdumalik Khalokov opened his campaign among the elite boxers with a powerful success
Abdumalik Khalokov took the super three in 2018 which means he claimed gold medal in the Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games, at the Budapest AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships and at the Bangkok ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships. Khalokov joined to the elite age group this January and the Shopokov Memorial Tournament is his debut but the Uzbek teenager was too smart for Thailand’s ASBC Asian Champion veteran Chatchai Butdee.

Tajikistan’s Bakhodur Usmonov and Thailand’s Asian Games winner Wuttichai Masuk were the best at the 63kg on Day2
Tajikistan’s Asian Games competitor Bakhodur Usmonov is only 21 but he is a strong future hope who shined in the second competition day of the Shopokov Memorial Tournament as well. The Tajik boxer landed lethal punches against Kyrgyzstan’s Bekzhan Ilichbek Uulu and the referee stopped their bout in the third round. Thailand’s Incheon 2014 Asian Games winner, ASBC Asian Champion and Doha 2015 AIBA World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Wuttichai Masuk eliminated Kazakhstan’s Baglan Adilkhan on Day1 and delivered even better performance on Day2 against Kyrgyzstan’s FISU University World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Temirlan Osmonov.

Kyrgyzstan’s younger hopes impressed at the Shopokov Memorial Tournament on Day2
Kyrgyzstan’s Argen Kadyrbek Uulu proved his strong development at the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games but his success over Mongolia’s Indian Open International Boxing Tournament silver medallist Misheelt Battumur was a superb debut in Bishkek. The host nation’s Abdurakhman Abdurakhmanov developed well also in the recent two years and following his success over Daniyar Damirdin Uulu, he was also too strong for Kazakhstan’s Kaysar Kozhagambetov. Kyrgyzstan’s new middleweight (75kg) hope Taalaybek Aitbek Uulu eliminated his teammate and National Champion Ilyas Akmataliyev which was the biggest sensation of Day1 and after that he defeated Kazakhstan’s Adilet Dosimbek as well.
