Uzbekistan’s Dalerjon Bozorov remained unbeaten in the Botvinnik Junior Memorial Tournament

The Botvinnik Junior Memorial Tournament was held in Minsk, Belarus where the finals scheduled on the fourth competition day. Uzbekistan Boxing Federation sent their top junior boxers to the Botvinnik Memorial Tournament where Dalerjon Bozorov, Javokhir Ummataliyev and Fazliddin Erkinboyev won the titles of their weight classes.

The Botvinnik Memorial Tournament took place for the youth boxers in October 2020 but the Belarusian Boxing Federation decided to change it into junior event due to the upcoming major championships. The competition was named after Belarus’ legendary boxer Mr. Vladimir Botvinnik who became Champion of the Soviet Union in 1959 and won dozens of boxing competitions during his career.

Boxers who were born in 2005 and in 2006 had the right to attend in the Botvinnik Junior Memorial Tournament. The event was a preparation event for the Uzbek boxers before the upcoming ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships. Many of the Uzbek junior boxers shined in the Kuwait City 2019 ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships.

Altogether 103 female and male contests were held in the Botvinnik Junior Memorial Tournament where sixteen winners celebrated their titles. Azerbaijan, Belarus, Russia and Uzbekistan were the nations which earned gold medals in the new edition of the Botvinnik Junior Memorial Tournament.

Uzbekistan’s ASBC Asian Schoolboys Champion Dalerjon Bozorov is a fantastic talent, he earned gold medals in all of his international and national competitions in the previous three years. The Uzbek featherweight (57kg) boxer was highly confident in the whole Botvinnik Junior Memorial Tournament and advanced to the final. Bozorov met for the gold medal with his teammate, Kakhramon Fozilov therefore the Uzbek gold medal was guaranteed. Bozorov was confident in the first round and his impressive technical skills decided the Uzbek final.

Uzbekistan’s new talent, Javokhir Ummataliyev did not compete in the ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships in Kuwait City but since then he progressed rapidly and joined to the national team. He had to meet in the final of the lightweight (60kg) with ASBC Asian Schoolboys Champion Lazizbek Tulkinov and succeeded against his top national rival in Minsk. The third Uzbek gold medal was achieved by Fazliddin Erkinboyev who defeated Belarus’ Uladzislau Kuznetsou at the welterweight (66kg). Uzbekistan’s ASBC Asian Schoolboys Champions such as Khumoyunmirzo Abdurasulov, Khodjiakbar Makhmudov, Farrukh Tulaganov, Shavkatjon Boltayev and Mizrob Nekboyev also advanced to the finals of the Botvinnik Junior Memorial Tournament. All of them claimed silver medals following their narrow losses against Azeri, Russian and local Belarusian opponents.
