Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, India and Iran shared the men’s final places in the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships

The men’s semi-final bouts were held in the fifth competition day of the ASBC Asian Elite Men’s and Women’s Boxing Championships in Dubai. Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, India and Iran will represent the finals with tough boxers after the rest day of the championships.
The venue of the continental event is the Grand Ballroom of the Le Meridien Hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The number of the boxers is 150 including 47 women from 17 different nations in the ASBC Asian Elite Men’s and Women’s Boxing Championships.
The following 17 nations are attending in the ASBC Asian Men’s & Women’s Elite Boxing Championships in Dubai: Afghanistan, Bahrain, Indonesia, India, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait, Laos, Mongolia, Philippines, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, host United Arab Emirates, and Uzbekistan.
All of the ten men weight categories were in action in the fifth competition day of the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships. Mr. Walid Jarrar of Jordan is the Technical Delegate of the ASBC Asian Elite Men’s and Women’s Boxing Championships.
 
Mirzakhmedov had brilliant performance in the first bout
Uzbekistan’s Nodirjon Mirzakhmedov is the defending champion at the light flyweight (49kg) who met in the semi-finals with Mongolia’s new sensation Orkhontungalag Unubold. The Mongolian competes in his first ever international championship but he was not nervous in their semi-final bout in Dubai. The Uzbek boxer was more experienced and that determined the result of the contest in the last four. Mirzakhmedov had to do his very best to beat his competitive Mongolian rival who robbed into the world of boxing in this event. The 27-year-old Uzbek will be boxing for the gold medal with Kazakhstan’s teenager, Daniyal Sabit who eliminated Philippines’ Mark Lester Durens.
 
India’s first male finalist is Amit Panghal
India’s Amit Panghal claimed the gold medal at the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games and at the Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Boxing Championships but in the preparation events he was not in top form. Following his narrow success over his Mongolian rival, the Indian began his semi-final better against Kazakhstan’s Saken Bibossynov. Both boxers are Tokyo Olympians and produced a fantastic performance in the last four which semi-final started better by Panghal. Bibossynov came back to the contest in the second round but the Indian had tough responses in the third and advanced to the final of the flyweight (52kg). Panghal’s final opponent will be Uzbekistan’s Olympic Games winner Shakhobidin Zoirov who defeated Kyrgyzstan’s Azat Usenaliev in a fantastic contest.
 
Mirzakhalilov vs. Kharkhuu in the final of the bantamweight (56kg)
Uzbekistan’s Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov is the defending AIBA World Champion, ASBC Asian Champion and Asian Games winner therefore he was too experienced for Philippines’ Junmilardo Ogayre who is a young and new hope in their national team. The Uzbek boxer maintained the best fighting distance quickly and followed his tough performance until the very end of the contest. Mirzakhalilov will be meeting with Mongolia’s Rio 2016 Olympian veteran Enkh-Amar Kharkhuu who had an outstanding battle against Kyrgyzstan’s promising Akylbek Esenbek Uulu.
 
Mongolia’s Erdenebat Tsendbaatar has the chance to defend his throne
There are several impressive battles in the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships, and one of the most anticipated one was held between Mongolia’s ASBC Asian Champion and Asian Games winner Erdenebat Tsendbaatar and Uzbekistan’s Youth Olympic Champion Abdumalik Khalakov. The four-years-older Mongolian used his excellent power to reduce the fighting distance against the taller Uzbek star. Khalakov had unpredictable movements in the second round and he has done fantastic attacks but Tsendbaatar was slightly better in the last three minutes. The Mongolian won the contest by split decision (3:2) and will be meeting for the gold medal with Iran’s Tokyo Olympian Daniyal Shakhbakhsh.
 
Chinzorig and Thapa defeated their top opponents
Tajikistan’s Bakhodur Usmonov won the light welterweight (64kg) at the Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships. The Tajik started the exchanges better than India’s former ASBC Asian Champion Shiva Thapa and tried to rule the middle of the ring. The veteran Indian has done a great finish in the third round and his efforts were enough to beat the Olympian Tajik in Dubai. Thapa will be meeting with Mongolia’s Asian Games silver medallist Chinzorig Baatarsukh who eliminated Uzbekistan’s Tokyo Olympian Elnur Abduraimov with fantastic performance.
 
Zhussupov vs. Baturov for the title of the welterweight (69kg)
Kazakhstan’s Ablaikhan Zhussupov used his fantastic tempo to land punches against Mongolia’s Battumur Misheelt in the semi-finals of the welterweight (69kg). The two-time AIBA World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Ablaikhan Zhussupov was technically better than the promising Mongolian and he used also his longer reach well. The Kazakh boxer won the contest by unanimous decision and will be meeting for the gold medal with Uzbekistan’s Bobo-Usmon Baturov who eliminated India’s veteran Vikas Krishan Yadav following his opponent injured in the first round.
 
Kazakhstan’s Abilkhan Amankul was confident in the semi-finals
Kazakhstan’s Abilkhan Amankul was silver medallist in the Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships and returned in time from his injury to get the spot for Tokyo. The 24-year-old Kazakh middleweight (75kg) controlled all of the exchanges against Iran’s Seyed Shahin Mousavi who is also a Tokyo Olympian. The Kazakh boxer won their contest by unanimous decision and will have the chance to get his first Asian title against Uzbekistan’s Saidjamshid Jafarov who eliminated Philippines’ No.1 Eumir Felix Marcial.
 
Ruzmetov and Gheslaghi are the finalists at the light heavyweight (81kg)
Uzbekistan’s AIBA World Boxing Championships silver medallist Dilshodbek Ruzmetov moved back before launching his counter-attacks which reached the target several times when he faced with Tajikistan’s FISU University World Champion Shabbos Negmatulloev. Both boxers qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games and Dubai is their last preparation step before the start of the top event of the year. Ruzmetov overcame his Tajik opponent and will be boxing for the title with Iran’s inexperienced Meysam Gheslaghi.
