Mr. Jahangir Riaz – We have fantastic environment here in Dubai

The ASBC Asian Elite Men’s & Women’s Boxing Championships is holding in Dubai and after five competition days the 40 finalists remained in action. Mr. Jahangir Riaz is the Managing Director of Green Hill Company which is the official equipments supplier of the ASBC Asian Elite Men’s & Women’s Boxing Championships. He followed the contests from the venue and replied to the Asian Boxing Confederation’s questions in Dubai.

“We have fantastic environment here in the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships which is a smaller event now due to the pandemic. The holographic images about the boxers, the introduction of the athletes, the ballroom, the lights, the sounds and everything are professional in this competition.

The local organizers had only short time before the start of the competition following the event has been relocated from India to Dubai. United Arab Emirates had less than one month to prepare everything before the start and they made it amazingly.

I followed the bouts in the previous days and I believe the level is medium in this ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships due to the well-known reasons. Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and India are the leaders of the championships but we have several strong talents also from Mongolia, Philippines, Iran, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan here in Dubai.

Some of the nations are missing of me and many of us in this ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships and I am sure Japan, China, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Thailand and others would be able to strengthen the event. The governmental restrictions, and travelling difficulties not supported these nations to attend in Dubai.

The ASBC Fund & Development Commission meeting was fruitful in Tashkent one and half month ago where I attended and I hope I can support the work in the continent. We had the first discussion in the Uzbek capital and I believe that we have to fix the procedures and the policies to reach the boxers, coaches directly and those who need help. I supported the developing nations with equipments and I will continue these grants.

Pakistan has got high number of boxers and I really hope that with the perfect system the country will be able to turn back to the best Asian boxing nations. The registration of the boxers is in progress in several regions. We have the plan to arrange regional events in Sindh, in Baluchistan and other provinces first to select the best ones. Our boxers need a lot of international tournaments and training camps to be competitive in the major championships. I have the plan to arrange international events in Pakistan in the future once again and hopefully we can do Asian Championships also in the country,” said Mr. Jahangir Riaz in the venue of the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships.
