AIBA Junior World Champion Timur Merzhanov is the star at the Uzbekistan Junior National Championships

Uzbekistan hosted their Junior National Championships in the historical city of Kokand where 15 champions have been crowned and their two biggest stars in this age group Timur Merzhanov and Temurbek Sadullayev both achieved the gold medal. Altogether 261 boxers attended in the Uzbekistan Junior National Championships in Kokand.
A junior international competition was held in the Tashkent region in the city of Bekabad a few weeks ago therefore their boxers have got a busy schedule. Fifteen weight classes have been held in Uzbekistan Junior National Championships: 42 kg, 44 kg, 46 kg, 48 kg, 50 kg, 52 kg, 54 kg, 57 kg, 60 kg, 63 kg, 66 kg, 70 kg, 75 kg, 80 kg and +80 kg. Boxers who were born in 2000 and in 2001 were eligible to box in the Uzbekistan Junior National Championships in Kokand.
Children of Asia Games is the main event for this age group in 2016 where the Uzbek boxers have got gold medal chances therefore the Bekabad Tournament and their Junior National Championships were important steps for them during this road.
Bakhromjon Olimjonov defeated Bekabad Junior Tournament winner 15-year-old Sardor Ashirov of Dzhizak in the semi-final at the 42 kg weight class and defeated that international event’s silver medallist Umid Jurayev for the gold medal who trains in the city of Bukhara. Asadkhudja Muydinkhodjayev was silver medallist in the last edition of the Uzbekistan Junior National Cup and was able to beat Sadirbek Kamolmirzayev in the final of the Bekabad Tournament and also in the Uzbekistan Junior National Championships in Kokand.
Akim Prizes Junior Tournament gold medallist Samandar Holmurodov won the gold medal after beating Timurbek Dekhkonov while Bekabad Junior Tournament winner Asadbek Tashpulatov claimed only bronze at the Pinweight class (46 kg). Uzbek Junior National Cup bronze medallist Bunyodjon Akhmedov of Ferghana moved down to the Light Flyweight class (48 kg) and defeated Anvar Nasreddinov in the gold medal bout of the event.
Akim Prizes Junior Tournament bronze medallist 15-year-old Javlonbek Yuldashev of Andizhan defeated Navruzbek Olimov in the final of the Flyweight class (50 kg) and reached the highlight of his career. The next gold medal was achieved by Bekabad Junior Tournament bronze medallist 16-year-old Murodjon Kosimov who was too strong for Khayrulla Alimatov at the Light Bantamweight class (52 kg).
Timurbek Yokubov of Ferghana was amazing against a star AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Halimbek Utegenov of Bukhara in the final of the Bantamweight class (54 kg) which was the biggest surprise of the competition. Jakhongir Yuldashev of Khorezm defeated Jakhongir Rakhmonov of Tashkent region in the final of the Featherweight class (57 kg).
Akim Prizes Junior Tournament bronze medallist Asadbek Shodiboyev of Andizhan is one of the best boxer of the Uzbek junior squad who controlled his fight over Saifullo Erkinboyev. Temurbek Sadullayev competed well enough in 2015 winning several medals therefore his success over Bekabad Junior Tournament winner Saifullo Erkinboyev was not a surprise in Kokand where he proved his strength. Akim Prizes Junior Tournament silver medallist Navo Tamazov defeated Mukhammadsolikh Holmatov and won his next national title.
Uzbekistan’s biggest junior star Timur Merzhanov is one of the most talented boxer in the world among the 2000 born athletes. He won the gold medal at the last edition of the AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships and also at the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships. Merzhanov did not lose any contests since May 2015 and continued her amazing winning path against Sarvarbek Anvarov in the final of the Uzbek Junior National Championships while Bekabad Junior Tournament winner Ilkham Genzhibayev of Karakol claimed bronze this time.
Alimardon Abduzhabbarov could not win medals in the last year’s events but in Bekabad he could beat all of his rivals which show his big progress in our sport. The 15-year-old talent continued his winning path in Kokand where he defeated Bekzod Yuldashev by TKO at the Middleweight class (75 kg). Asatillo Sharipov proved amazing performance at the Light Heavyweight class (80 kg) who stopped Bekabad Junior Tournament winner Asadbek Normatov of Bukhara in the semi-final and delivered another TKO triumph over Javokhir Tugaymuratov in the final.
Ikboljon Murodov claimed the gold medal at the Uzbek Junior National Championships, at the Uzbek Junior National Cup in 2015, while he was crowned in the Bekabad Junior Tournament in a few weeks ago. Their new super talented boxer defeated all of his rivals once again in Kokand including Jamshidbek Mukhamadaliyev for the gold and secured his fourth big triumph in the recent 10 months.
