Interview with Mr. Li Qiang

President of the Chinese Boxing Federation Mr. Li Qiang answered our questions during the AIBA Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualification Event which is holding in Qian’an, China and where he is following the actions and the performance of their boxers. China exceeded the expectations in the front of their home crowd and achieved at least six quota places.

– What is your opinion about the AIBA Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualification Event?
– The 2016 Asian\Oceanian Qualification Event is a very successful event with the effective organization work and all the boxers from team delegations show a wonderful fighting skill and spirits. By all these means a high-level boxing event we held.

– What objectives are the main strengths of your organization?
– The main strengths of our organization is that we have formed a high-level competition team, with the experience of the 2008 Olympics, Asian Games, Youth Olympics and World Championship etc. Making us a professional team to organize the event.

– Qian’an is not a well-known city in China. What was the reason choosing Qian’an as host city?
– Choosing Qian’an as the host city is because the citizens in the city loves boxing game so much. There are first-class hotel facilities, especially the Vice president of Chinese Boxing Federation Mr. Zhao Yuqiao and his company Jiujiang wire Co. Ltd. Offered great support.

– What were the main issues, problems and challenges in the preparation to the AIBA Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualification Event?
– The biggest challenge is the language service, we hope to offer the first-class service to every one, however, due to the limited language ability of the LOC staff and volunteers, we could say that there are some disadvantages during the event.

– What does the AIBA Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualification Event means for China?
– The 2016 Asian\Oceanian Qualification Event is a very successful event with the effective organization work and all the boxers from team delegations show a wonderful fighting skill and spirits. By all these means a high-level boxing event we held.

– How do you see China’s boxing life and its future?
– China is willing to contribute everything to the development of Boxing career. It is the trust from AIBA to make us get the bidding of the event, also to the CBF. So we will try all we could to host a successful event. The Chinese boxers performed very well in the event, especially they fight with their whole-hearted mind and Olympic spirit, also our promotion on boxing.

– How many boxers and clubs do you have across the country?
– There are over 40 boxing teams in china with provincial level, with more than 5000 registered boxers in CBF every year.

– How did you communicate the AIBA Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualification Event in China?
– We take all the boxing events hosting in China as our force to move forward and to push forward the development of boxing career in China with the help of AIBA and CBF.
