Uzbekistan and Iran arranged a joint training camp in Yangiabad which holds until April 10

The Iranian boxing team spent valuable weeks in the training camp in Yangiabad, Uzbekistan before the Dubai 2021 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships. The benefit of their hard work with the Uzbeks was excellent for the Iranians as they earned two silver and two bronze medals on May 2021. The Iranian Boxing Federation returned to Uzbekistan to a joint training camp which support both nations in order to prepare to the big championships.

The training camp started on April 1 and will be held until the 10th in the mountainous region of Uzbekistan, in Yangiabad. The head coach of the Iranian national team, Mr. Alireza Esteki selected a strong team, 13 of their top boxers are attending in the training camp. Former star boxers as Homayoun Amiri and Jasem Delavari also support the preparation of their national team in Yangiabad.

The full delegation size of the Iranians is 18 people and their talents have been preparing to the upcoming Asian Games, and other important goals of the year. Iran’s first ever medallist in an AIBA Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships, Daniyal Shakhbaksh is also with the team and he keeps his lightweight (60kg) despite of his young age. Iran’s second Tokyo Olympian boxer, Seyed Shahin Mousavi also joined to the training and sparring camp.

Uzbekistan represents the training camp with 70 boxers and among them 17 will attend in the Golden Belt Tournament in Romania. The new edition of the Golden Belt Tournament returns to the boxing agenda after three and half years of break and several top nations will be there including Uzbekistan’s top team.

The management of the Uzbekistan Boxing Federation is planning to re-launch the Sidney Jackson Memorial Tournament still this year after eight years of hiatus. The exact date of the Sidney Jackson Memorial Tournament depends on a few key decisions such as the date of the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships.
