Turapbay, Yeleubayeva, Ayupova and Shaybekova continued their winning path in the Kazakhstan Women’s Youth National Games

The Kazakhstan Women’s Youth National Games was held in the city of Atyrau where the male boxers also competed for the medals. Some of their top stars missed the event but internationally experienced Gulnar Turapbay, Aishagul Yeleubayeva, Milana Ayupova and Gaukhar Shaybekova were also among the winners.

Boxers who were born in 2003 and in 2004 were eligible to attend in the Kazakhstan Women’s Youth National Games. Altogether 100 female boxers attended in the competition which was their next selection event before the major championships. Almaty region topped the team rankings in the Women’s Youth National Games ahead of Turkestan region and Karagandy region.

Women boxers could compete in the following categories: 46kg, 48kg, 51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg, 75kg, 81kg and +81kg. The organizers decided to add the pinweight (46kg) besides to the other 10 official divisions of the youth age group. Some of the stars were missing in the event, they received rest after their successes at the Kielce 2021 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships.

Pavlodar region’s Youth National Champion Anel Aitkeshova won the first title of the Women’s Youth National Games following she defeated another 17-year-old talent, Symbat Adilova of Akmola region at the pinweight (46kg). Karagandy region’s Gulnaz Buribayeva was also born in 2004 as Aitkeshova but she has international experiences which paid off in the final of the light flyweight (48kg) against Akbota Bolat of Kyzyl-Orda region.

Karagandy region’s second gold medal in the Games was achieved by AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships quarter-finalist Gulnar Turapbay who defeated her main national rival Khava Bolkoyeva in the final of the flyweight (51kg). Aishagul Yeleubayeva also reached the quarter-finals in Kielce this April but she had to do her very best in the difficult final against Selyavira Sadvakassova of Pavlodar region.

In the absence of ASBC Asian Junior Champion Nazerke Serik, Almaty’s Shakhnaz Isayeva won the gold medal of the featherweight (57kg) following her triumph over Kuralay Gapparova of Shymkent. AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships silver medallist Zhuldyz Shayakhmetova missed the Games therefore the lightweight (60kg) gold medal was achieved by Aruza Balgabek of Almaty.

Pavlodar region’s Milana Ayupova was member of the national team at the Kielce 2021 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships and she earned her next title in Atyrau, controlling her final against Anar Tursynbek. Turkestan region’s Youth National Champion Gaukhar Shaybekova defeated ASBC Asian Junior Champion Valeriya Semyonova in the semi-final and she continued her winning path against Aknar Ishanov of Atyrau region in the final of the welterweight (69kg).

Kostanay region’s Anastasiya Bayazitova controlled the middleweight (75kg) contests and claimed gold medal after beating Nargiza Akzholova. Karagandy region’s Kamila Bazhbenova had a crucial bout against Makpal Yerbolatkyzy but she succeeded at the light heavyweight (81kg).

The last gold medal of the Games was taken by ASBC Asian Junior Championships silver medallist Diana Magauyayeva of Shymkent who was too strong for a younger opponent, 17-year-old Asel Toktasyn of Almaty. The younger talent won their finals in the Youth National Championships this February but this time Magauyayeva was able to do revenge.
