Tokyo Olympia Ablaikhan Zhussupov will be meeting for the title of the Kazakhstan National Championships with WSB Team Champion Aslanbek Shymbergenov

The impressive semi-finals were held in the sixth competition day in the Kazakhstan Elite National Championships for their female and male boxers in the city of Shymkent. Many of the dream finals realized in the National Championships, Olympic, AIBA and ASBC medallists advanced to the title contests. Makhmud Sabyrkhan is ready to do surprise in the men’s flyweight (52kg) while the battle between Zhussupov and Shymbergenov will be also a unique contest.

All of their top boxers are attending to attend in the National Championships which will be a great comeback for them after eight months of trainings without any events. Shymkent is located in the Southern part of the country in the valley of the Sayram River near to the border of Uzbekistan and famous of its boxing schools.

Altogether 94 women and 196 men boxers are attending in the Kazakhstan Elite National Championships in Shymkent. The competition is the first ever unified Kazakhstan National Championships for both genders in Shymkent while some of the spectators are approved also to follow the bouts.

Lukas vs. Kyzaibay for the final of the women’s flyweight (51kg)

Shymkent’s Angelina Lukas represented Kazakhstan at the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in Amman but she could not qualify for the Tokyo Olympic Games. The 23-year-old boxer has done a big step to regain her place in the national team in the semi-finals of the national event when she defeated AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships silver medallist Zhaina Shekerbekova. Two-time AIBA Women’s World Champion Nazym Kyzaibay defeated AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Zhansaya Abdraimova and will be meeting with Lukas in the final.

Aizhan Khodzhabekova is on the way to the final success at the women’s featherweight (57kg)

Karagandy region’s AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Aizhan Khodzhabekova defeated a strong rival in the semi-finals of the featherweight (57kg), Nazym Ishchanova who competed for Kazakhstan in big events in the recent years. Khodzhabekova will be meeting for the gold medal with 21-year-old Vladislava Kukhta who bowed out veteran Saniya Sultankyzy in a tough semi-final.

The dream final realized at the women’s lightweight (60kg)

Akmola region’s Karina Ibragimova achieved bronze medal at the New Delhi 2018 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships but she lost her top place in the national team in 2019 and in 2020. The 24-year-old boxer used her longer reach well against Adina Kaldybai of the Dzhambul region and secured her place in the finals. Ibragimova will be meeting with her top national rival, Rimma Volosenko who outpointed Aidana Zabynbekova of Aktau region in the second semi-final.

Shakimova vs. Khalzova for the title of the women’s welterweight (69kg)

Dariga Shakimova achieved bronze medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games but moved down to the welterweight (69kg) which is better for her physical conditions. The veteran boxer has got more than 10 years of experiences in the international level and advanced to the final of the category after her success over Zhasmin Kizatova of Karagandy region. Shakimova’s final opponent will be AIBA Women’s World Champion Valentina Khalzova who returned to the sport one year ago.

As expected Bibossynov vs. Sabyrkhan for the gold at the men’s flyweight (52kg)

Tokyo Olympian and AIBA World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Saken Bibossynov delivered his best performance in the semi-finals against Almaty region’s Damir Abdykadyr who has done a few surprises in Shymkent. The dream final has also realized in the men’s flyweight (52kg) where Bibossynov had to meet with two-time ASBC Asian Youth Champion teenage star Makhmud Sabyrkhan. The 19-year-old is one of Kazakhstan’s biggest talents who started his elite campaign with a gold medal at the 2020 Bocskai Memorial Tournament.

Temirzhanov and Assylkulov defeated their rivals at the men’s featherweight (57kg)

Pavlodar’s former ASBC Asian Youth Champion 22-year-old Serik Temirzhanov is already a Tokyo Olympian who had a tough semi-final against ASBC Asian Youth Champion Biybars Zheksen but won two rounds out of the three on the scorecards. Temirzhanov, who trains with coach Azamat Makazhanov, will be boxing for the title of the featherweight (57kg) against Orazbek Assylkulov in the National Championships.

The best of the bests as Zhussupov and Shymbergenov are finalists at the men’s welterweight (69kg)

Two-time AIBA World Boxing Championships bronze medallist and former Youth Olympic Games winner Ablaikhan Zhussupov controlled all of the rounds against Pavlodar region’s Kuan Kuatov in the semi-finals of the welterweight (69kg). Zhussupov has in amazing shape after the strong preparation and the Tokyo Olympian can prepare to his final against Jakarta 2018 Asian Games silver medallist Aslanbek Shymbergenov. The tall WSB Team Champion used his strength against ASBC Asian Youth Champion Ayatulla Takizhanov in the second semi-finals.
